We are all here at the table. We decided to have a small celebration since I don’t want a big one. Everything was settled.
“Let’s dig in.” Dad said in a deep voice. “Eat, hijo.” he motioned his hand to Zion who obeyed him and eat his food silently.
“Don’t be awkward, Zion, hijo. Feel at home.” Mom smiled at him. They’re acting soft with Zion. One thing I can say is, ‘sana all’.
Right after we eat, mom blabbed again. She can’t stop blabbing all day.
“Zion, dear, what can you say about the food? I cooked it.”
The little guy smiled, “Uhm, masarap po, Tita. Weird nga lang po ang lasa para sa akin kasi first time ko pong makakain no’n.” He answered with all honesty.
Dad joined the conversation, “Oh, you should come here often with Jajang. My wife is willing to cook for you.”
“Dad, don’t call me that. It’s embarrassing.” Pagkontra ko. This little guy will tease me again.
“Your Tito is right, Zion.” Mom changed the topic. “Oh, by the way, where are you going to apply for work? At the same media company?” Mom asked me.
“Yeah. We already talk about it. Even Staive.” I answered.
“You’re so quiet, Jajang. Any problem?” Dad asked me when he noticed that I’m not joining their chitchats.
“Nothing, dad. I’m just tired.” I forced a smile but the truth is my mind is occupied by what Zion told me awhile ago. I don’t know if he’s just joking or he’s freaking serious about what he just told me infront of my mom.
“We need to talk, little guy.” I uttered and looked seriously at Zion who’s innocently looking at me. We just finished the small celebration. I dragged him to the rooftop.
“Tungkol saan, sungit?” He asked when we reached the rooftop. He wandered his gaze at the city lights that can be seen from here. His eyes were full of amazement.
I faked a cough to caught his attention, “About what you told mom awhile ago…” I couldn’t finished what I’m going to say. It’s awkward, really really awkward. “Uhm, I don’t want to assume. I just want to be sure.” I added.
“Huh?” Tumabingi ang ulo niya ng kaunti. “Pinagsasabi mo?”
My palm landed on my face as a sign of disappointment and embarrassment. “Nevermind. Let’s go back there.”
I started to walk when he grabbed my wrist which made my heart beats fast. What’s happening to me? “Teka lang, sungit. Ang ganda pa nga dito. Napaka-KJ mo naman yata.” He commented and laugh.
He’s now looking at me. I don’t know what he’s thinking but he’s stare is telling me that he have something to tell me.
“Jared.” I was stunned when he called me. This is the first time na tinawag niya ako sa first name ko. He’s weird.
“Hmm?”
He sighed first and then stared at me, “Hindi ko na kaya.” He started. “Mukhang hindi ko na kakayaning itago pa ito.”
Nalilito man ay naglakas-loob akong magsalita, “What do you mean?”
