Delaware's POV
August 4, 1967Things between Governor Terry and I had been very tense recently. Governor Terry, much to my displeasure, had still been insisting on treating me like a child. It was getting very annoying. I was staying in the capital more, as Governor Terry was trying to get new riot laws passed, laws which would greatly increase his power. I wanted to know whether or not they would be passed, although it seemed very likely that they would be passed.
I sighed. No use sitting around doing nothing for the next couple of hours. Maybe I can talk to my twin or someone else about my concerns for this law. With that I stood up and brought myself back to Da's house.
I appeared in Da's house and I was immediately overtaken by a wave of dizziness and my knees gave out. I fell, and prepared myself to hit the floor. Fortunately, someone caught me, but I couldn't tell who, the lightheadedness making it hard for me to process anything. I fought to keep my eyes open, as I knew if I let them shut, I would pass out.
"Del ar...okay?" I heard a voice talking to me, but I couldn't make out all the words. Thankfully, the lightheadedness was fading and I didn't feel like I would pass out anymore. I groaned and pressed a hand to my forehead, closing my eyes as I did so.
"Delly?" I heard Rhode Island asked. I groaned again. Out of all the people to catch me. When I opened my eyes, I corrected myself. The person who was holding me up was Palau, and Rhode Island was just a bystander.
"Del are you alright?" Palau asked. I stood up, swaying slightly, but not falling over again. That didn't stop Palau from looking concerned, as she looked ready to catch me again.
"I'm fine." I said. I didn't know what was happening, but I didn't want to cause anyone to worry. I would be able to deal with this on my own.
"Delly you came here and immediately collapsed." Palau said.
"I uh...I'm drunk." I blurted out. Rhode Island gave me a suspicious look.
"Dela I've seen you drunk before. Multiple times. More than I should have. You're an alcoholic. But you aren't acting like you do when you are drunk. You also don't smell like alcohol." He said. Dammit. Why does the rest of the Thirteen have to know me so well?
"Okay, maybe I do drink a lot, but I'm not an alcoholic!" I protested.
"So are you admitting you aren't drunk?" Rhode Island asked.
"I...I have to go." I said, trying to walk away. But as soon as I tried to take a step forward my legs nearly gave out from underneath me. Palau caught me.
"Delly.." she said, worry in her voice. I stood up, and began walking on my own.
"I'm fine." I said, this time only managing to stumble a couple of times as I walked.
"Delaware I know you are lying." Rhode Island said.
"I'm not lying." I protested.
"Your accent is doing the same thing it always does when you lie. It sounds more southern." Rhode Island pointed out. Dammit it does. Why does Rhode Island have to know my tell?
"No it's not!" I said.
"Says Delaware in a very southern accent. You're a bad liar Delly." Palau said.
"Shut up Palau!" I shot back.
"Why is Delly lying?" I heard New York say as he approached us. I groaned. Just what I needed. Another person interrogating me. Rhode Island turned to New York, probably to explain what had happened.
I took advantage of this moment to bring myself back to my state, aiming for Governor Terry's office. If something had happened, which is why I'm having trouble moving back and forth between the worlds, he might have an idea of what was happening.
