Delaware's POV
The concussion was pretty much gone now. That meant I had a chance to get out. I had been trapped for a week, and I knew that I was being watched. I could never see them, but I could feel their eyes. I was getting paranoid, and scared.
I hadn't been attacked yet since the first day. But there have been several threats made towards my well being. I hadn't seen Terry since last week either. That was also making me nervous. I wasn't given news of what was going on outside this small room either. I didn't know what Terry was doing.
But I could feel my people's fear. They were scared. Just like me.
I had a plan though. I could sneak out. Late at night the guards switched. I could hear them drinking and laughing and hanging out before they changed shifts.
Man, I needed a drink. I shook the thought out of my head, thinking back to my plan. I don't think they realized how good my hearing was, which gave me an advantage. While they sat around drinking and insulting me and my people, I would escape. If I made it to Dover, I would try and reason with Terry there. He had to realize this was unnecessary.
Especially if he realized how the National Guard acted. If that didn't work I'd go from Dover to Maryland and talk to Mary about contacting Da. She'd help there, if Terry decided to be unreasonable.
It was 11:47 right now. Thirteen minutes. Thirteen minutes and then I would leave.
"We have a new tool." I heard a whisper from downstairs.
Well that doesn't sound very good. I needed to get out right now. I flicked my ears. The guard at the door was gone. I pulled out my makeshift lock pick, and began slowly unlocking the door. I hoped the guards didn't come back. I was afraid of what they would do. I was very vulnerable here.
The lock opened with a small click and I froze. No one came, and I let out a sigh of relief. I was safe. For now. I still had to get out of this house and get out of the city. Only then would I be safe.
I slowly creeped through the hallway, trying not to make any noise. My tail was wrapped around my leg, and in an attempt to keep it from hitting anything.
"I can't wait till we are allowed to go all out." I heard one of the guards say. That sentence worried me, and also made me realize it has tuned out their conversation. That wasn't smart. I needed to be aware of what they were doing.
I reached the top of the staircase, and looked down, seeing a gate blocking the way up. Shit. Now what was I supposed to do? I looked up and noticed a window near the staircase. A window I could probably fit through.
I walked over to the window and saw that it was overtop a section of room for the lower floor of the building. I could safely get out of it, but they would hear me. I sighed, knowing I didn't have much of a choice. I opened the window and crawled out, holding myself in the window frame before dropping down on the roof.
"What was that?" I heard a guard ask as I jumped down to the ground and began sprinting off.
"It's out! It's escaped!" I heard someone yell as the guard exited the house.
"Suck my dick motherfuckers!" I yelled at them, before speeding up. I knew they were probably close behind. I tried to lose any pursuers by going down as many backstreets as I could, grateful for my centuries of experience in this city.
I looked behind me, and noticed that no one was chasing me now. I stopped briefly to catch my breath, knowing that I would have a long walk to Dover. My ear twitched, and I heard a faint noise coming from somewhere. I looked around, panicked, my horns lowered.
