It was a week after Austin left her. Austin seemed to be pleased. He brag about Claire and how she was amazing in more ways then one. Alicia was just standing by her locker getting her Zoology notebook and pen. She had just come from the Band and Chorus room, when he walked by. He was tall, handsome, played the cello, a track-star, but not the most popular boy at Sillhill High School.
"Hey" those were the first words he had said to her.
She knew he had to be talking to someone else because ever since the Austin accident she was practically invisible. But she heard his low voice again " Alicia?"
This time she turned around and saw him looking straight at her with a smile on his face.
She finally answered "Hey"
She remembered the first time Austin had talked to her. He asked her to help him study for chemistry.
" I'm Oliver, Oliver Thurhill." He seemed nice but she never thought to talk to him. He had a shaggy look to him, hair cut short and you could tell he had facial hair he obviously neglected to cut. Oliver wore black shorts, old tennis shoes, and a T-shirt she could tell had went through to many washes.
" Alicia, Alicia Penticost. Its nice to meet you."
Alicia liked Oliver, but never had the chance to talk to him. He seemed so quiet and quirky.
" Do you have any plans for Friday?" Oh, no she thought how could she tell him she swasnt over Austin yet?
Her mind spoke before she knew the words. " No, none at all."
Oliver smiled and said "Great, you want to go hang out then?"
Her mind told her no but her heart screamed yes. "Sure, say 7: 00?"
" You got it!" Oliver was overjoyed. He walked away. As he did so Alicia hung her head because she knew all shed think about was Austin. And just like that she was back in the game she hated most, dating.
