Alicia watched it the passenger side window. She saw a older couple walking along the sidewalk, a brother and sister drawing with chalk, and a lonely bird sitting on the branch of an apple tree. She hadn't said a word to Oliver, she was nervous. Then he spoke fairly quiet.
"How are you?" Oliver quickly glanced at her.
"I'm fine thanks for asking. So where are we going?"
"Its a surprise!" he sounded excited.
Alicia giggled and reached for the radio. As soon as she did she realized the radio didn't work. Oliver apologized and started whistling a tune she found familiar but couldn't remember the name.
"What song is that?" she asked in her sweet soft tone.
Oliver smiled " The Star Wars theme."
She had heard him hum that song in Band many times. As he stopped humming he pulled into a long gravel drive. She didn't recognize the road. Alicia looked at Oliver with curious eyes that grew with curiosity the farther he drove. Finally, the trees cleared and all Alicia saw was a barn. A large nice looking white barn with red trim. There were about a dozen cars when Oliver parked the truck. She opened the door and dangled her freshly smoothed legs out. When Oliver reached the door, he grabbed her waist and lifted her out.
She asked "Oliver? Where are we?"
He smiled. "Why do we find out?"
Alicia grabbed Oliver's arm and they walked to the barn. She heard music blaring from inside and turned to her escort. He opened the door and lead her inside. It then hit her that this was a dance. It was for anyone ages 14-19. Alicia looked around with wide eyes and in awe. There was a table with desserts and punch, a local band on one end of the room, but not many people. She shrugged it off.
Oliver looked at her and asked "Would you like to dance?"
Alicia smirked. "Id be delighted!"
Soon the were dancing and laughing together. All of a sudden, the band played a slow song. As Alicia started to walk away, Oliver grabbed her hand and pulled her back to him. He smiled. And she smiled back. No one in the room could tell they were not a couple. Until, Oliver cleared his throat "Alicia?"
She smiled like an idiot and replied "Yes?"
"Would you go steady with me?"
She looked scsred, then she left. She ran out of the doors and to his truck, she pulled herself into the cab and cried.
Soon after Oliver came to her. He asked "Alicia, did I do something wrong?"
Alicia looked up and said "No, its just I can't stop thinking about Austin. Your an amazing guy, but I just can't."
Oliver looked at her an smiled. "Then lets forget."
Alicia once again looked up. He was sitting right next to her. She reached out and hugged him. It took Oliver by surprise.
"Id like that. Id like that a lot." Alicia said this softly so only Oliver could hear, ever though they were the only ones outside.
She checked her Samsung and it read 10:00. Both got back in the car and drove away.
Suddenly Oliver said "I have one more place to take you."
