The halls were quiet. Not only was she late, she had no clue which way to go. She mentally cursed out the twins as she walked down a random hall trying to see if she could find her classroom. The sharp clicking sounds of her shoes echoed as the only presence around. After nearly fifteen minutes of walking around, she finally found her classroom after climbing a flight of stairs. At this point, she was already fed up and tired. A light scowl unconsciously slipped onto her lips.
As she was facing the door, she hesitated on knocking. Her arm and fist were already in position whe she decided to debate on the pros and cons. Pro. She wouldn't have to see people. Con. They would probably call her father. Pro. Nobody would talk to her. Con. She would probably be grounded. Pro. She could just lie and say she couldn't find her classroom. Con. The twins would be punished for not assisting her. Even if the twins were a bit too eccentric for her liking, they weren't bad people and didn't deserve to be punished for her selfish actions.
As she kept listing more pros and cons, she started to get more impatient and began tapping the heel of her foot consecutively.
"Are you waiting for someone to open the door for you or something?"
The unexpected voice scared her away from her thoughts and forced her to be aware of her surroundings. She slowly turned around and saw a boy with a ponytail wearing a black velvet jacket with a floral patterned shirt underneath looking at her mockingly. She stood frozen as this random boy stepped right in front of her and purposely leaned down close to her face, making sure they were just a few inches apart.
"Here you go, princess" he exclaimed while twisting the door knob behind her, turning her around by placing his hands on her shoulders and pushing her forward. Everyone's attention was immediately on them, including the teacher.
"May I help you?" the teacher inquired the both of them with crossed arms. Haruka felt too overwhelmed with the sudden scrutiny of her classmates and couldn't speak up, and clenched her skirt with the hand hidden from her classmates. Noticing her silence, the boy spoke up instead.
"I found your student wondering around in the halls" he said while looking at her directly in the eyes.
"I think you should punish her for being late" she immediately turned towards him with an offended look and was about to call him out when the teacher spoke up and told Haruka to sit down. She squinted her eyes at him in a threatening manner and sat in the only available seat in the back. Her classmates watched her every move as she walked towards the back of the classroom, some even pulling out their phones and agressively texting while stealing glances at her. She continued to glare at said boy while he cheekily smiled at her and left.
First days are the worst. She thought as she laid her head on her arms.
By the time lunch came around, she was ready to hide somewhere but she was hungry as she had eaten just a few pastries with the twins instead of an actual meal. She waited for everyone to leave the classroom first, then she grabbed her phone and followed the student that had left before her from a safe distance. She still had no idea where anything was and had yet to find her locker. Luckily, the student didn't notice her and led her exactly to where she wanted to go. The cafeteria. She quickly grabbed some food and sat at the table farthest away from everyone else, she just wanted to eat and not chit-chat.
