Gold shackles, silver chains,
she glistens under the eye of God, almost daring it to shine brighter than her.
She owns whatever land she walks on but owns up to nothing.
Her tiara sits burdensome and beautifully on her head, so she'll always look down on those below her.

Once upon a time, she was free,
but starving.
From there on, her life turned into the hunger games,
and from her hunger gains,
she turned into a savage.

Now she has to wear these chains so the savage stays tamed and the hunger remains at bay.
She is the free prisoner and she is me.
