Chapter 4 Lying

Third person POV.

Dove gets out of Damon's backseat and shuts the car door behind her. She fixes her bag strap on her shoulder; wincing in pain because of the pressure of her bag on her bruised shoulder and hand. She looks around herself and smiles when she sees Shadow, Miss. Henderson’s cat. She’s so cute.

“So cute” she gushes over to him, skipping over the fact that everything was hurting her. Shadow, Miss Hendrson’s cat nuzzles her face up against Doves' knees and hands.

“Hello kids, how are you three doing this morning? Are you ok Dove?”

Dove looks up a bit startled to hear a voice, but calmed when she sees Miss. Henderson at her front window, “Hello Miss. Henderson’s, I’m ok I just tripped down the stairs last night when I was getting a glass of water. My mistake, I should have turned the light on beforehand” she said, rubbing the back of her neck as she gave a sheepish smile to the old kind lady, “I'm all good” she added in putting her thumbs up to her. Guilt filled Dove as she lied to Miss. Henderson once again.

Damon and Anna looked away from the two and gave each other looks. All three hate lying but for the meantime they have too… they promised. They hate lying, but it’s for the best.

“How have you been, Miss. Henderson? Did you sleep well?” Dove said, standing back up.

Miss. Henderson is a nice old lady who lives a few houses down from their past schools and present school. At the start it started with bikes, scooters or skateboards being stored there, but through the times it was turned into Damon’s car or Anna’s. The reason why they were and are allowed to do this, is because all three of them go and help her with her lawn. If she needs it mowed, one of them would do it. Need weeds pulled they got it. Snow shoveled, they got it. They even got it if Miss. Henderson wants flower beds made and flowers and vegetables plante there. It's the payment of parking bikes, scooters, skateboards and cars at her place. They all are fine with it. They were the ones who came up with the idea.

Dove walks over and picks up the old ladies newspaper and takes it to her so she wouldn't need to and to ‘prove’ that she’s ‘fine’. “Thank you my dear. It seems like it's going to rain, make sure you three are safe and don't get cold, no one wants a cold” Miss. Henderson said softly to her as she took the newspaper from her hands.
