Chapter 8 Are You Ok?
Third person pov.
“It’s ok,” she said quietly to him.
Happy felt bad, very bad for scaring her like that. He didn't mean to but he spoke before he could. He looked around the lunchroom to see if there was anyone else, but saw no one else in the lunchroom with them. It was just her and him alone in the lunchroom at the moment. He looks back at her and shuffles on his feet as he sees who this teenage girl was.
Happy was given a file of the few people who were still at the school so he wouldn't need to guess who the students were and he instantly could tell that she was one of the students. That's just not it though. When his eyes had landed onto her face, he could instantly tell that the teenage girl who stood awkwardly, shy and scared in front of him was one of the students that missed the bus and that something happened to her recently. The cuts look fresh, not old.
He raises his eyebrow at her worriedly, but doesn’t question it… yet. “I'm Happy Hogan, sorry again for startling you. You must be one of the students that missed the bus” he said, sticking his hand out to her.
She flinches back, but awkwardly gives him a polite thin lip smile and nods her head as she grasps his hand into hers. “Yeah I am… and It's fine” she whispers out as she tries not to wince from the pain that shot through her body. His grip on her smaller hand was a normal grip for a hand shake, but with her hand already being fucked up the slightly tight grip on her hand and shake shot so much pain through her hand, then wrist and then her whole body.
She only winced slightly and then pushed the pain away and acted as if she didn't just wince in pain because of a hand shake.
Luckily for her, he did see the winces, but what he saw was her hand. All over her hand he held in a loose grip has bruises and cuts all over it too, but, BUT what also got his attention was the marking on her hand, “Are you ok? What happened to your hand and face?” he asks as he checks over her hand even better so he can get a better look at the markings.
He has seen these soulmarks before. There’s Pepper Potts, Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson, Peter Parker, Pietro Maximoff, Wanda Maximoff and Thor’s soulmarks.
He was shocked to see what he was looking at. There were only a few things on his mind as he stared at her bruised, cutted and soumarked up hand. One thought was on the fact that this teen could be the soulmate of seven of his friends, six avengers and Pepper Potts. Another thought was that someone did this to her. The longer he looked at all of her bruises and cuts, they looked like they were made by a fight then anything.
Dove tenses up in her spot at his question. At that moment she really wished she just stayed home and hid away from others so they wouldn’t have to see her like this, so they wouldn't need to ask her if she was ok. She loses her grip with his hand and tries to pull it away from him, “yeah I'm fine. I forgot to turn the light on before going down the stairs last night to get water… I ended up tripping down the stairs last night” she said, chuckling awkwardly as she pulled her hand away from him and rubbed the back of her neck.
Happy raises his eyebrow at her answer to his question. He didn't believe that she wasn't being convincing enough to him. “Are you sure…?” he asks her. He shuffles on his feet and she steps back slightly because of his movement.
She nods her head, “Yeah, I'm all good” she said. She meantly groans as pain shoots through her head and neck. She bites her tongue to stop any kind of sound to escape her mouth.
Of course Happy didn't believe her. There were plenty of red flags that showed that she was lying to him and probably others. The biggest flag would be all the bruises and cuts he can see on her, they dont look like ‘I fell down the stairs’ kind of bruises, they look like she got into some sort of fight and he was really hoping the other person looks worse.
The awkward laugh and rubbing to the back of her neck was another flag to him, the widened eyes and stepping back from him when he would make any kind of biggish movement was another. So the ‘I’m all good’ wasn't enough to believe that she just fell down that stairs at night to get a glass of water. She was lying.
Dove looks away from him to her feet not knowing what to do or say.
Third person pov.
Anna rushed into the room with plastic bags in her hands and a big smile on her face, "I'm back!" she yells out swaying the bags around.
Anna looks around the room to find her friend and finds her, but she instantly stops walking fast as she meets someone new with her friend. "Oh, sorry that was loud. I'm Anna.... and this is Dove" she said. She walks to Dove and the new person.
When she got there she stopped and stood beside her friend. “It's nice to meet you,” she said, sticking out her hand to Happy.
"I'm Happy" he said to her. "Is Sad here too?" Anna asks bluntly. Dove eyes widen in shock and covers her mouth as she hides her laugh. Anna’s cheek went red. Happy chuckles, “No, he stayed back at work” he jokes back.
Dove chuckled but took that time to walk and stand behind Anna.
“It's nice to meet you Dove and Anna”
