Tony's POV
"Surprise?" The kid said, nervously
The kid who was supposed to be four thousand miles away.
The kid who I thought was safe but apparently wasn't at all.
She must've read the mixture of shock and anger and 'what the hell are you doing here' on my face.
"I know what you're gonna say-" She hurriedly said
"You should NOT be here" I interrupted
"I was gonna stay home" she protested
"I don't wanna hear it"
"But it was such a long way away and I just thought about you-"
"And now I gotta hear it" I groaned
What had I done that every kid I had mentored had to be so annoying.
"-and I snuck onto the ship" she continued, "and you left me unsupervised so if anything... it's kinda your fault that I'm here"
"What'd you just say?" I asked angrily
"I-I take that back" she said hurriedly
"Once you guys are done having your heart to heart, you might want to help us destroy the evil alien thingies" Clint interjected
He was probably right... the kid wasn't going anywhere and if she insisted on coming on this HIGHLY DANGEROUS mission, she may as well help out.
I can't believe she had the audacity to sneak along.
It was exactly the kind of thing I would do...
Now I was a bad influence on two kids
"How did you even sneak along?" I asked
"I'm not snitching" she replied annoyingly
"You do know that I can just ask Friday and she'll tell me, right?"
"She was sworn to secrecy" the kid replied
Of course she was.
"How'd you manage th-"
I was cut off by one of the huge alien monsters shooting out flames again.
"LOOK OUT!" The kid yelled, pushing me away from the flames
She blasted it with water again, dousing its flames
"Good of you to join the fight" Nat said, stabbing the alien with knives
"THIS STUPID THING WON'T DIE!" The kid yelled, continuing to blast it with water but adding ice shards to the mixture
Amazing.
We had an unkillable, super dangerous space alien with really bad breath near an eight year old.
"What're we supposed to do?" Cap asked
"I have no idea," Clint replied
"We're surrounded by freaky, unkillable aliens and... we have no backup" Nat groaned
"I'm backup!" The kid chimed in eagerly
"No, you're a stowaway" I said sternly, "The adults are talking"
The huge ones continued to blast fire, and it was all the kid could do to douse the flames before they hurt any of us.
"They don't look like they're gonna stop anytime soon" The kid said tiredly, "and I can't carry this on much longer"
"There has to be some way to kill them!" Cap yelled over the creature's roars
