Chapter 11: Misfits

After finishing up a few poems that night Emily decided it was best to go to bed to get up fresh and early in the morning.

As she was getting her last words in she heard someone running up the stairs.

As she turned toward the door she saw Lavina running in looking worried and carrying a letter in her hand.

*Lavinia- "here it's from Charlie I ran into him a few minutes ago he said to get this to you as soon as possible, I think it's urgent".

The letter looks somewhat illegible like it was written in a hurry.

It reads...

"Emily I'm leaving, I don't have much time but hopefully I'll be able to write to you when i get there, I'm taking the nearest train and thank you

for everything".

-Charlie

*Emily- "the nearest train....that's not too far from here, Lavina I'll be back okay, make sure mom and dad don't find out I'm gone".

*Lavinia- "okay but don't take too long, and Emily...".

*Emily- "yea?".

*Lavinia- "be careful".

*Mrs Dickinson- "Was it right to tell his parents?".

*Edward- "Of course it was, I mean God knows what would have happened if we didn't".

*Mrs Dickinson- "What do you think they are going to do?".

*Edward- "Whatever they have to".

*Mrs Dickinson- "Do you think Emily will be alright".

*Edward- "I hope so".

*Chris- "Wait I forgot something-".

*Charlie- "Chris there's no time we need to go now".

*Chris- "Is this really the best solution?".

*Charlie- "Yes! What other option is there?".

*Chris- "Wait is that...".

Emily comes running up the hill to where Chris and Charlie are, she looks worried and out of breath.

*Emily- "What happened".

*Chris- "They know".

*Emily- "Who?".

*Charlie- "My parents".

*Emily- "How?".

*Charlie- "Your parents saw us kiss while they were on a walk".

*Emily- "What!".

*Charlie- "I know I just wasn't thinking but they told my parents and they said they are going to send me away to "get fixed" I can't leave I-I can't be away from Chris".

*Chris- "Emily this is the only way we will be able to be together, we don't have a plan but as long as we are together I know we will be okay".

Tears started to form in Emily's eyes.

*Emily- "You both have helped me so much, how can I ever repay you?".

*Charlie- "Keep writing your poetry okay, you're amazing Emily don't ever forget that".

Emily puts her arms around both of them.

*Emily- "Thank you for being my friends".

The silence is broke when the train whistle sounds and they realize this is their last goodbye.
