Sitting down across from the other three girls Rachel stared at her hazelnut soy latte. She didn't think she would get caught, though she wasn't aware of their strict uniform policy. Quinn watched her for a second or two before taking a sip of her dark roast; the other two girls on each of her sides were Jane and Chrissy.
"I like to thank you girls for buying me a drink, before you proceed to beat me up. Just please try to avoid my nose. It's my most valuable necessity when it comes to show choir-" laughing Chrissy advised her to relax. Agreeing, Jane mentioned that her spy skills were amusing for them. Rachel noticed that Quinn hadn't spoken much since they sat down.
"Our only question is, why did you spy on us?" asked Jane, with all three eyes on her Rachel biting her lips gathering her thoughts together. Where could she begin? Mr. Shue ridiculous assignment? Her so-called friends ignore her brilliant ideas. Feeling isolated within her own sexuality. This was beginning to give her a headache.
"Well...it was my friend's idea. I just-I guess it was a way for me to escape my miserable school. Even if it was cut so short. To be honest, it's been hard lately and I feel like I'm not respected enough in my glee club let alone the school itself." sighing she knew she was rambling again. "I just have this one question that's been burning all day, are you all gay? Bisexual even?" seeing them laugh slightly she felt foolish. Like there could another gay girl in Lima, Ohio much less an open one. Well aside from Santana though she denies it and Brittney is open to all teams.
Taking note of Rachel's tense shoulders, Quinn nudged Jane's side a bit. Clearing her throat, she spoke up. "Well if you're asking if Dalton is an academy primarily for LGBT youth, no we aren't. These two here both have boyfriends."
"Quinn doesn't like boys around her at all, if you catch my drift." Chrissy teased connecting a sting with her finger between the two girls.
Rolling her eyes she laughed it off, "She's right, boy's aren't my thing. I love girls in all aspects." giving her friend a warning to lay off a bit. Rachel sipped her drink taking in all the info.
Quinn Fabray likes girls too. No-Quinn Fabray loves girls too! Shoulders slumped, she chewed on her bottom lip unsure on whether to ask her out due to relief or scream from not knowing if she even had a shot or not.
Quinn asked if she could speak to Rachel in private. Once they left them alone she scooted her seat closer giving her shoulder a squeeze.
"Would it be too much to ask if you are out to any friends or family?" taking a deep breath, she explained the situation. Starting back in Freshman year when Puck slushied her for her animal sweaters describing them as childish. Then there was Finn, her first crush and whom she's been chasing tirelessly the past year. Being raised by two men she learned not to judge people based on appearances but rather actions. After Finn slushied her because he had chosen his football fools over glee her feelings for him were dismissed. Sure, she had eyed a few of McKinley's Cheerios in their sinful uniforms but she never dared to act on her emotions. Though she always wonders what girls' lips felt like against her own.
Along with Mr. Schue's recent glee assignment. She was the only one who felt that singing Broadway classics would win them the Sing Off against the boys, of course shut down. Kurt would've sided with her if Mr. Schue didn't base the teams off their sex.
To make matters worse, David Karofsky and guess who his latest target was. That's right Rachel Berry. Sure, he may have made sexist comments about her ass or mocked glee club with his Neanderthal friends, but she didn't let those jockstraps get to her. Until recently his teasing became physical, shoving her into lockers, knocking books out of her hands when he passed her. She tried to express her concern to Kurt, but he said it would be best if she just brushed it off.
Taking in all the information given to her at once Quinn sat up in her seat smiling softly. Blind to the tears threatening to fall, the dapper girl offered a tissue. Mouthing thank you she wiped her eyes trying not let any fall yet that only made her want to cry more. Rubbing her back in small circles Rachel smiled a bit.
"It's okay to cry, but remember you aren't alone. Your friend Kurt, right? Is it safe to say you can relate to him?" nodding 'yes' Quinn continued. "That's good and along with the support of your fathers of course.... I ran Rachel. I couldn't admit to myself that I was a lesbian. I let bullies chase me away, and here I am. Just in this bubble of safety where no one bullies anyone, yet that's not always good. It's not realistic. Just a safety blanket..." sighing she felt Rachel rub her back this time in return.
Sitting in silence for a while Quinn dug into her pocket fishing out her iPhone. Unlocking it she said that Rachel could text or call her anything whether it for advice or just to hang out lending the girl her cell. Thanking her they stood up before Rachel launched herself into the taller girl's arms hugging her. Squeezing her back they separated walking down the hall. Reaching the exit of Dalton, they smiled at each other feeling a sense of relief.
"Oh, and Rachel courage. Don't let that jockstrap win, okay?" ensuring Quinn she wouldn't, she waved goodbye before leaving before letting her tears of joy roll down her cheeks.
