And there it is, the big day. Camilo didn't get the chance to apologize after his confrontation with Sofia since, according to tradition, the groom is not allowed to see the bride before the wedding because that causes bad luck.
Y/n was mindlessly nibbling her nails and staring at the ceiling. There's no turning back now, and this was finally happening. Isabela's advice lingered in her mind; why had everything happened so quickly that she didn't even have time to object? She could have objected, so why didn't she? What was it that was holding her back?
" Y/n? " Dolores knocked on her door, rattling her out of her reverie. Before answering the door, she let out a big sigh and practiced her smile. Dolores embraced her as soon as she opened her door, Isabela, and Valeria at the rear.
" Hello, you three. " As they took their seats on the sofa, Y/n welcomed them. Valeria and Isabela exchanged worried glances as they noticed Y/n wasn't even in her bridal gown.
" Y/n, are you okay? " Valeria asks questions, grasping her older sister's hand, causing Y/n to shudder. She gave her a tiny nod and walked over to the mannequin, leaving them seated while she undid the dress.
Isabela approached her first, helping her in slipping on and fastening the dress. She smiled softly as she looked at Y/n's face in the mirror and tapped her shoulder, prompting her to turn around.
" You can still do it. It's never too late Y/n. " She says gently and tucked her hair tucked behind her ear. She and Camilo were already on thin ice, so why marry?
She finally realized what was stopping her from speaking up. She was becoming attached to Camilo, who was meant to be someone she despises and who was supposed to be her opponent in their stupid bet. She didn't want attachment, commitment, or love.
She turned to face Dolores, who nodded. Guaranteeing her that everything is fine. Valeria embraced her in a tight hug, while Isabela slipped a flower behind her ear. They always had a sisterly relationship, and they had each other's backs in just about everything.
" Thank you. " was all she could mutter.
......
Camilo's heart started to gallop as he approached the altar. He watched as each of their family members marched one by one, eager to see her. When the massive doors of the cathedral finally opened, a smile came over his lips, it was his moment, their time.
" Isabela? " The room was filled with gasps, the wedding music came to a halt, and everyone stood up. Camilo dropped the napkin he was grasping and glanced down the aisle at his cousin, who was smiling as she walked down the aisle.
He approached her, tears bubbling up in the corners of his eyes. When she shook her head, his heart sank. He surrendered to her embrace. She left, Y/n left.
" Why'd you leave me waiting at the altar, amor? "
