As we made our way to the beanstalk I was overcome with memories of when I first met Cora. And how I grew to hate her.

Enchanted Forest (Rose is 10)

I am so bored. How could mother force me to stay in my room all day. No entertainment because she's "busy" and doesn't need me roaming the castle. Maybe she'll let me ride Obsidian. She is my favorite horse by far and seems to have taken a liking to me. I ran to my wardrobe and picked out my pastel pink riding jacket with my tan leather riding pants. I hope someday mother will stop coordinating my riding clothes with my powers I'd much rather darker colors like her. Perhaps maroon.

I tucked my pants into my pastel pink boots and walked to my door. I checked over my whole outfit in my mirror and walked toward the door.

When I opened it a guard stood outside it.
"Sorry Princess, but the Queen gave us strict orders not to let you leave." The guard stated. I huffed and slammed the door closed. I felt bad for slamming the door in his face but he needed to believe I gave up. I stood in the middle of my room and vividly picture mother's chamber door hoping that I could teleport their as I was getting rather good at teleportation. I closed my eyes and felt the pink smoke surround me. When I opened my eyes again I saw that I had teleported right outside the chamber door.

"Yes!" I said in an excited whisper. While opening the door I heard the room go dead silent, I could have sworn I heard someone other than my mom in here. Mother laid her eyes on me with an annoyed and slightly angry face.

"Rose how did you get here I told you to stay in your chambers today. Did those guards let you out?" I decided to ignore her questions for now and answer later.

"I'm bored, can I please ride Obsidian. Pleeeeeease." I said holding my hands together and putting on my best puppy dog eyes. Mother looked at me like she was about to cave and then I heard someone clear their throat.

"No you may not, now return to your room." My mother said sounding stressed and tired of this conversation.

"But I'm bored, and I'm old enough to ride her by myself. I promise I'll stay on the castle grounds." I pleaded.

"I said no. Go to your room."

"Why do I have to stay there anyway. You're clearly not busy. You're just standing there. I said. It's no fair. She can't keep me locked in their all day. I heard someone clear their throat again.

"You will not talk back to me. Now go to your room or you will be punished." My mother said in her regal voice which scared me. But her eyes seemed sad.

"I'm sorry mother. I'll leave." I said in fear and defeat.

"Mother?" someone called out from a part of the room I couldn't see. I heard heels click toward me and my mother looked at me with worry in her eyes.

"I thought you said she was one of the guards younger sisters." The woman said who was still slightly out of my eye sight. She took a few more steps and I realized she looks similar to my mother. She stared at me for a second then turned to my mother. "Oh Regina, she looks nothing like you." The woman said in a patronizing manor.

"Well, I'm adopted." I responded to her comment trying to defend my mother. Mother looked at me with fear in her eyes which set off my expressive magic. I could tell by the change in the woman's expression. She smiled at me as she snuck a glance to what I think was a pink ring around my head.

The woman bent down to my height still smiling. "Hi, I'm Cora. And I'm your grandmother. It's a pleasure to meet you."
