Monster of a Quest

Chapter 12 Dabria

I wake up early like always; it was 5:00 o'clock. I saw a stream a little ways back, so I decided to go to it, and see if I could catch some food. When I get to the stream, I see all kinds of vegetation that you could possibly eat, but I did not know if you could eat them so I did not touch them. There are a few fish trying to swim upstream, I watched them struggle to get up the steam for a little while then took out my bow and laced my arrow into it then shot one fish then quickly pulled out another arrow laced it in the bow then shot another one; I did not stop till I caught five, which only took like forty seconds. I walk across the stream, and pluck the arrows out from the wear they landed with the fish on them. I then start to head back over to camp. While heading back, I look around and admire my beautiful surroundings. This would be a perfect place to go to paint.

I get back to camp and start to gather the materials to start a fire and some branches to cook the fish on. I start the fire and then stick the fish on the sticks I collected so I could put them around the fire to cook. I sit on the floor watching the fire when the boys' tent starts to move, then the tent unzipped and Leo came out. He quickly zipped the tent back up, then turned into a wolf and ran farther into the woods. Once I can't see him anymore, I go back to watching the fire, as it sends off sparks into the air and glistens in the sunlight. It reminded me of when I was little and for the first time and the only time I remmeber my mom being nice to me, but it was only because this one man my mom went on a date with was here and they took us to this camp site. While my mom and the guy were setting up the tent I just sat there and watched the fire, and the families around me were cooking marshmallows, having fun, smiling and laughing like a big old family. I wonder what it would be like if I was born into that kind of family.

I start to come back to reality and remember that I have to flip the fish over, so I do. As I am flipping them over the boys tent moves again and Cody unzips the tent and comes out, he looks around then zips up the tent. "You're already up, and also do you know Leo is?" he says, looking at me tiredly. "Yes I am up, and Leo ran off into the woods" I say now looking at the fire again. "And you didn't think to ask him where he was going" he says his voice raises a bit. "No why would I, he looked like he was in a hurry, and I trust him so why would I have to ask" I say still not looking at him, I put out the fire, and let the fish sit there and cool off. "Alright then. Why are you up this early anyway? Did you get any sleep at all because I do not want to have to drag you the rest of the way" he says looking at the fish, then at me. "Don't worry you won't have to. I got about four or five hours of sleep so I should be more than good for the day" I say looking at him now. "Only four or five, how is that enough sleep for the whole day" he says, looking at me like I am crazy. I was about to answer him but then Sam unzipped the tent and said "It's not, at least I don't think so, but it is more than usual for her, so I guess that is something right" he says then shrugs. "More than usual, do you even get any sleep at night? What could you possibly be doing that late at night, actually forget that I don't want to know" says Cody louder than usual.

I see Leo coming back to camp and turning back to his human form. "Where were you?" Cody says sternly like he was his father. "What does it matter, he is back isn't he" I say calmly, I get up and grab my bow from next to me. "What do you mean? What does it matter? We do not know what he was doing for all we know he could be plotting against us" says Cody, Leo looks at him like he was a walking and talking shoe. "Do you really want to know what I was doing?" says Leo. "Yes" Cody says, staring straight at Leo like if he took his eyes off of him the world would explode. "I was going to the bathroom like every normal person does" says Leo, Sam looked at Leo surprised and smiled. "What are you smiling at Sam?" Cody says. "Leo just said something funny" says Sam, I smile too. "Yeah he did" I say looking at Leo.

Cody started to get mad again so I went to wake Charlotte up, I tapped on the tent with my bow, and the tent started to move. Charlotte unzips the tent and crawls out leaving the tent open. "So what's for breakfast" she says yawing, she stands up and seems to get everyone's attention. "Nothing you'll like princess" says Cody grinning. "First off never call me princess again, and second it can't be that bad" she says, I look at her frowning knowing it is going to disappoint her. She walks past me and over to where the fish are, one look at them and she was gagging, and Cody was laughing, while Sam was holding back a smile. "Sorry, I did not see any rabbit, or anything like that" I say with an apologetic smile on my face. "Not like you would kill it anyway" Leo says, I turn and look at him. "Excuse me" I say quite surprised he said anything, especially anything like this, Cody starts snickering not being able to hold in his laugh anymore. "What it is true, I mean you much rather kill a human than an animal" says Leo, I look at him then at Sam, who was just staring off into space. "Why do you think that?" I say confused, I mean he is not fully wrong but still, how does he figure this out I did not show this side of me to anyone not even Sam. "You're scared of animals," Cody says laughing. "I am not scared of animals because if I was I would have to be scared of you, and I am not scared of you. Ohh wait, that is an insult to the animals." I say smiling then go straight back to a straight face. Everyone started laughing, even Leo snickered a little bit. "Hey what happened to our deal, you know of you being nice" he says in a baby voice like I was supposed to feel bad for him. "I don't know why you want me to feel bad for you, you started it, and I was taught that if someone picks a fight with me you have to finish it and come out on top." I say seriously without a doubt in my face. He looked at me angrily and his hand caught on fire again, I lifted my hand up and made water float above my hand then shot it at his hand. "If you keep getting angry like this the whole quest I am going to be a pro at handling my water powers" I say smiling. "Okay guys, enough cute fighting and let's eat" Charlotte says smiling. "It's not cute" me and Cody say at the same time, we both glare at each other then start eating.

As soon as we finished eating and listened to Charlotte complain about how bad the fish were, we packed up our stuff. Cody takes out his map again and starts leading us farther into the woods.
