Chapter 14 Sam

The team rushes over, and they see the shadow shaped figures. It was like they sensed we were here. They turned around quickly and looks in our direction. Before they could see me, Cody pulls me down behind an enormous boulder at the edge of the cliff. Dabria peeks around the rock slowly, then turns back to us. "I don't think they saw us, but that was close," Dabria says after sighing. "You should have moved quicker Sam, they almost saw you," says Charlotte, looking at me with her judgemental look she only ever gives me and Cody. I peek around the rock and see they were no longer there, but there were three coyotes there now. "They're not there anymore. There are only coyotes there now," I say, thinking this is something important that they should know, but then Cody looks at me, then snickers. I look at him weirdly, wondering what was so funny. "You're afraid of coyotes?" Cody asks before laughing again. What does he mean by asking me if I am afraid of coyotes? "No time to laugh. We have to see what they are up to." Dabria says peeking around the rock again. "Find out what the coyotes are up to. They are coyotes. They are probably trying to find something to eat, which could be us, might I add." I say. Charlotte rolls her eyes. "What it's true?" I say, then look around. "They are not coyotes, they are Shadow Monsters. They turn into things you are afraid of, and I am guessing that is not your biggest fear because they are lower ranked ones, so they must be newer to their powers," says Charlotte. I look at the monsters, then at Charlotte. "No, that is not my biggest fear. My math teacher is scarier than coyotes. He gave homework on weekends, crazy right?" I looked around everyone was looking at me like they were trying tofigure out what was wrong with me, but Dabria who was still looking at the creatures. "I don't see anything but the shadow people" says Dabria, is she not scared of anything, she never acts like she is scared of anything. "Then they have not reached a high enough level of teaching for your scare level, or of course you are not scared of anything. But you have to be scared of something, everyone is scared of something Dabria." says Charlotte in a lower voice. "Hey Cody, what do you see?" I ask quite curious. "I don't see anything but the shadow monsters, cause unlike you I am not scared of everything." He says I did not believe him the way he looked at the things.

"Alright guys, enough socialising, we are going to have to attack them, they look like they are getting ready to leave. They look like they are looking at some map, but what do you think they need a map for?" Dabria says, still peeking over looking down on them. "Maybe they need it to find their way to the bathroom" I say, Dabria glares at me. "Okay I get it not the right time" I say defensively. "I think maybe I should shoot them down and maybe keep them alive so we can talk to them and figure out more about what's happening, and" says Dabria, stopping mid-sentence. "Where in the world did that child go" says Dabria, I look around and she is talking about cody. I look out the other side of the boulder than the side Dabria was on while we all looked for Cody.

I look in the tree's around the monsters, and there he was to the left of the monster farthest from them. "He's over there" I say pointing at him and moving out of the way so Dabria could see, she walks back to her side of the boulder "Ugh, does he ever listen" says Charlotte, while Dabria was giving him a death stare and looking at him so intensely it was like she was trying to shoot lasers out of her eyes at him. Cody was walking slowly up to the monster left, he crouched down. The monsters looked the opposite way and started packing up their stuff. Then Cody strikes at the one closest to him and stabs it in the neck then pulls in down the spine, the out real quick before the others see him, he was back hiding in the coverage of the bushes and trees while the other monsters look around bewildered. They bare their pearly white teeth and look the way Cody was standing before. Then Cody strikes from the opposite side to the one closest to him again and kills that one too. The last monster looks around with fear in its eyes, Cody moves around again in the opposite direction then he was in before. He goes in to strike again, but the monster turned around just in time and jumped at Cody with it teeth bared. Then it squealed when it inches from his face. I turned and looked everyones else, and saw Dabria was standing up with her bow in her hand aimed at the monsters. Once she saw that he was alright she started storming down the hill to get to Cody and the monsters. Charlotte, and Leo followed her, Charlotte had a look on her face like, ohh he's gonna get it.

Once we all get down there. Dabria lifts the monster off Cody and ripes the arrow out of it. Cody was still laying on the ground from when he fell over, there was only shock showing on his face. Dabria glares at him for a little bit then says "I let you lead the way, and take control of the map, and make you feel like co-captain of this team, and then you go and risk that all with a dumb idea, that might I add you did not tell us about. We might have even joined if you told us about it." she took a deep breath trying to get ride of her anger but it did not seem to work. "What a great co-captain you are being" says Charlotte, Dabria was still looking at Cody and he was looking angrily at her. "I could have dealt with it myself" he says angrily, his hand starting to catch on fire again. "Yeah it totally seemed like it when you were laying on the floor dumbfounded. You could have at least used your fire powers on him when he was jump striking" Dabria says while walking away. "Look I know you really wanted to be caption of this team, and you don't like to talk just do, and your friends you worked with before might have been okay with that but we do not work that way. Were a team we work together and listen to each other's ideas" Dabria says looking at him again, now more calmed down. She started to walk back to him, and gave him a hand to get up, but Cody being the selfish person he is, swatted it away and got up on his own after he stopped the fire in his hands.

Charlotte walked over to the monster's backpack they left sitting down by a log. She went through the stuff while the rest of us just looked at each other and our surroundings. We did not really get to get a good look around here before everything happened. I looked up to where we were standing before on the way up you could see vines and tunnels and caves for animals, the hill kind of looked like it was cut in half but the other half was missing. The tree's were towering over us; everything looked so magical. "Guys, I think they were planning to attack the king" says Charlotte, that snappend all our attention back to her. "They have a lot of smoke bombs and this map leads to right where the king likes to spend his free time and the exact time he actually gets to go there." We all over to her and take a look at the map, she was right they were going after the king, but I have no idea how Charlotte knows where he hangs and when he hangs there.
