Why is Cody leading us through the forest when Dabria is the Leader of this team? I kept finding myself asking this repeatedly, and why is Dabria allowing him. I know he has good instincts, and more experience in this area, but the prophet chose her to lead. I know it is hard to trust her because she did not even know our world existed until a day ago, but I just have a bad feeling about Cody leading. I rarely listen to feeling, I usually go by logic when it comes to this stuff, but this is different. It is so strong, it's like it was pulling at me, making me listen.
I looked over at Dabria. She was talking to Charlotte and Sam. Her golden blonde hair blows in the soft wind. She looked so happy, like she had no care in the world, even though we headed into an enemy kingdom. That will show us no mercy. Sam seemed pretty happy too, but I don't think he would be this happy if Dabria was not here, so there aren't really mysterious reasons behind his happiness. Charlotte, on the other hand, did not look too happy to be talking to Sam, she looking around like she was trying to look at everything but him. She looks at Dabria though but not for too long though. She looks at her for a bit then it is like she members she has to look at everything and not just one thing.
Dabria sees me looking at them and stops and waits for me to be next to her. "Hey" she says, looking at me smiling. I smiled at her, I wanted to say hi back but at the same time I hate talking to people, I feel so much more comfortable talking when I am in animal form. "Hey, I know you don't like to talk much so we can keep the talking to a minimum" she says, I nod and smile. She started looking off into the woods, like she was admiring everything around her, she looked so happy like she sucked up all the sadness in the world, just looking at her made me smile. While her amazing one blue and one green eye gazed all around her, you can see the world in them like a tiny telescope. She looked at me for a second and studied my face, trying to see what I was thinking, then she smiled. "Hey Leo, I was wondering how did you get so good at observing people and figuring out what they are thinking," she asked, I was debating on telling her the real reason or a fragment of the truth. "You don't have to tell me, I was just wondering" she says, I guess if I was going to tell anyone it would be Dabria, she's the one that would get me the best, but I did not feel comfortable to tell her the whole story yet. "Well, one way I learned is because as you know I don't like to talk to people a lot so I just observed them instead." I say I looked at her and she was just staring at me, like she was trying to figure out if I was telling the truth. "For example look at Cody, you see how he is smiling and not being rude to everyone, that is because he is happy that he is not being hated on for once by trying to pretend to be the leader of this team" I say trying to prove my point, she seems convinced her face softened, and she smiled again. "Wow you are amazing! Maybe you could teach me how to read people like that" she says, I smile and nod. I would like to try to teach someone how to do what I do, and Dabria would be the perfect person to teach, but she does not know the other lessons that come along with it.
We both went back taking in our surroundings, but then I started to think about how she was letting Cody lead, and my curiosity took me over till that was the only thing I could think of. I was trying to hold back my question because I did not want to go into it and admitting I did not know the reason. I kept holding back the question just trying to figure it out in my mind until I exploded. "I was wondering, why are you letting Cody lead the group?" I said a little louder than usual, and I could see Dabria noticed that too because she jumped a little bit. "Sorry" I say, putting my head down. She uses her finger to lift my chin back and says "It's fine, never apologise for talking, I love hearing your voice." I smile and look into her eyes, she was just an amazing person, I wish I had her by my side when I was littler. She removed her finger from under my chin. "And to answer your question, I know I shouldn't but I feel bad for Cody about taking his place as leader of this team, he is so much more talented and knows so much more about this then I do. He can handle this team better than I can right now, and it does not seem to be bothering anyone that he is leading right now. The closest thing I have seen of anyone not liking him leading is your curiosity about why he was," she says looking up at Cody. "If you tell him that I will hurt you" she says now looking at me. I smile then nod, we go back to looking around.
While I watched us pass by all the same trees over and over again, once and a while we would pass by a little pond or stream, all I could think about was me and Dabria's conversation. The way she is letting Cody lead and not bothering him about anything is going to have him feel in control, and that he could do whatever he wants. I wanted to tell her this but I think she already knew that she was just hoping she was wrong. I look at her trying to figure her out but it was hard because she can conceal herself from everyone so easily. I looked up at everyone else and saw that Sam stopped and was looking over the edge of the hill. "Guys you are going to want to see this" he says pointing over the edge.
