The last couple of weeks have been hectic since we moved to New York City, and it was a lot different from Pennsylvania, but that was because I moved from a small town to a big city. I didn't bring a lot of things with me because my father told me that we would buy everything that we needed in New York. So, I only packed a few of my clothes and my favorite records and record player that my grandmother bought me for my birthday. The house that we moved into was a lot bigger than my grandparents' house. It had three floors, including the attic. And my bedroom was double the size of my last one. The few weeks of being in New York, I explored the area that I lived in and did a few practice runs to the school, so I knew how to get there.

And the weeks flew in because it was now my first day at the Midtown High School of Science and Technology, and to say I was nervous would be a vast understatement. I was up all night trying not to drown in the enormous pool of sweat that I was making as I lay in bed thinking about what would possibly happen, and my mind made up a lot of different scenarios and none of them were good at all. I was putting a lot of pressure on myself because this was the fresh start that I always wanted; I didn't have to hide up in a room all day like I used to. I was strolling towards the gates of Midtown High School, repeatedly telling myself that everything was going to be fine. But what if I messed up and everyone hated me? Everyone in this school was smart. I wasn't dumb, but what if I was the dumbest and everyone picked on me over it? But I got into the school, so I at least had to be smart enough for that. Right?

The only dreadful thing about the move was that we were moving haft way through the school the first term, so I was joining when everyone had already made their friend groups, so it was going to be hard for me to make friends. As I walked onto the school grounds, I saw everyone talking to their friends, and a couple of students stared at me. They probably knew I was new and were trying to pre-judge me and deciding that they hated me. I was now standing outside the entrance of the school, and I was too nervous to walk in, and now more people were staring at me as they walked into the building. I tried to move, but I couldn't. It was like a deer stuck in headlights that I was stuck to the ground. My last school hated me because I was Gay, and I knew that this time I was keeping it a secret, so it didn't happen again.

Just then I heard the school bell ring to tell us that class was beginning soon, and I didn't want to be late on my first day, so I needed to just walk in and get over my fear. I finally get the courage to walk into the building and just as I was about to push the door, it swings open and knocks me over and I fell to the ground and so did the person who opened the door and everything that they were holding went up into the air and started to scatter all over the floor. I went into a panic mode and just began to apologize to them as I helped gather all their stuff off the ground. Well, it was only my first day, and I had already made someone mad at me. Well done, Y/N. When I finished picking up what I could off, I finally looked over at the person to see a brown-haired boy staring back at me, but he didn't look mad but worried. I noticed that his eyes are a chestnut brown, and I found myself being lost in them.

"No, I am sorry... I wasn't looking where I was going because I was in a rush," he says, while I hand him his stuff. "It's okay, don't worry, at least none of us were hurt," I said with a laugh, which caused him to have a smile. Damn, even the smile he had was cute. Nope Y/N, what did we just talk about? We cannot be going around having a crush on guys until we know it is safe. He stands up, and he puts his hand out to help me up, which I kindly accept, and he helps me up. We just stood there in awkward silence for a while. I guess neither of us knew what to do next. I decided that I should speak up before we stand there any longer in silence.

"Thanks, I'm Y/N Y/L... I just started today," I tell him as I put my hand out for him to shake. And he takes my hand and shakes. And again, all I could think about was how soft his hands were. Did he moisturize them? My hands were probably sweaty from how nervous I was. "Nice to meet you, I'm" but his phone ringing cut him off in his pocket. His smile dropped from his face, and he quickly took his phone out of his pocket and looked at it. He shouts as he runs off the school grounds that he is sorry but must go, but he stops and turns back. "Hopefully, I will see you around Y/N" he shouts before running and I watched as he turned the corner. I then just stood there, thinking about the encounter I had. He was nice and kind, and maybe I was attritive to him.
