The song above doesn't match the vibe I've been doing of only putting songs from before 1985. But I like the song a lot and feel it matches the vibe of this chapter. So, here it is.

Mary's P.O.V.

The rehearsal dinner had gone as well as expected. Geraldine had cried and ran upstairs to her room refusing to come out. Saying fast-food was embarrassing. Though no one, not even her husband's high-class family had any problems with a greasy cheeseburger. Everyone seemed quite pleased with the arrangement. Geraldine had eventually left her room as well. Not being able to handle having the attention off her. Though she made a big show of not touching any of the food.

My other sisters and biological mother had also attended the event covered in pudding, cream, and cheese. Though no one minded either. And when they charged the lake, everyone followed suit.

The problem came after dinner when Irene rushed all the women except Geraldine and her guests back into the kitchen. Irene had insisted we cook through the night. We managed a modest meal that had been salvaged from the day's battle in the kitchen. Irene claimed she would order catering for the rest of the day. But we covered dinner and dessert.

I tramped upstairs in the early hours of the morning. Without bothering changing my clothes I collapsed onto my bed and fell asleep.

"Mary! Mary! Ow!"

I shot up in bed and whacked the person standing over me. That person happened to be my brother Rob. Dressed in black dress pants and a half buttoned white shirt. His hair was combed but a few strands flopped here and there. He had a shit eating grin on his face despite me just smacking him.

"Why are you here?" I complained.

Rob gave a fake pout, "morning to you too."

"Rob!"

"Someone needed to wake you up and I was the only one willing to risk getting smacked." He said simply.

I sat up and groaned, "wake me up? I just went to sleep."

"It is three in the morning." He informed me cheerily.

"WHAT? Why are any of us awake right now."

He shrugged, "sunrise is at 5:30. Geraldine wants to walk down the aisle as the sun rises."

I rolled my eyes, "right I forgot about that."

"You aren't tired?" I asked him.

"Nope. I am fueled by pure ambition. When I start campaigning, I'm going to have to look presentable of every moment of every day."

I shook my head, "you disgust me."

He smirked, "good."

He fled from the room and Irene entered in his place.

"Oh, wonderful is the reception taking place in here?" I mused.

Irene frowned, "what did we talk about yesterday?"

I hopped off of my bed, "it is three in the morning. I will not be cooperative at three in the morning."

"Yes, you will. We'll be making sure you're getting ready and that you don't fall asleep. Belle will be in to do your hair and makeup. So, please bathe quickly."

I took note of Irene already being fully dressed. "You got it." I yawned.

She yawned as well before giving me a sleepy smile and floating out of the room.

I slipped into the tub cringing after realizing I had gone to bed covered in lake water. I cleaned myself up and was just finishing drying my hair when a knock came on my door. I clicked off the dryer.
