13 : Engagement (I Don't Mind Marrying You)

[ NISHIMURA MIU ]

"Where is your brother?" Jay asked. He is probably wondering why we are alone in the dining hall. I dropped a sugar cube on my tea cup before looking at him,

"He is probably still sleeping." I replied. He nodded and continued eating his pancakes.

I cleared my throat. I could feel the atmosphere getting awkward. Only the ringing of utensils could be heard across the entire place. I eyed the housemaids who were lining up not far away from the table.

"Yena." I called her. She immediately walked towards me, "Wake my brother up. Tell him it's time for breakfast."

Yena gulped. She raised her head with hesitation, "Young Master usually wakes up at 7 am. It is still 6:37, Young Lady."

I know that, but I just can't start a conversation with Jay! The atmosphere is really awkward and the fact that we are alone on the dining table.

"Okay, then." I tapped the chair beside me, "Sit here." Yena creased her forehead. She eyed Jay before looking back at me with confusion all over her face.

I saw how the corner of Jay's mouth raised. He shook his head, eyes focusing on the food, "You are getting obvious, Miu." He said softly, although I can still hear it.

"What are you talking about?" I asked sassily. He did not bother to respond. I scoffed and rolled my eyes before continuing to eat my food.

I CONFIDENTLY walked through the silent hallway of the university alone. Jay was indeed the one who drove me to here but I did not bother to wait for him anymore and immediately went outside his car the moment he finished parking it.

I stopped in front of an elevator and pressed the up button. My brows shot up when I saw a familiar figure inside, "Oh hi, Miu."

"Hello." I replied to Sunghoon. I turned my back on him and crossed my arms while waiting for the lift to arrive at the floor where my classroom is located.

"Is there something going on between you and my friend?" He asked playfully. The upper left corner of my lips raised,

"Which friend?" I responded in a lazy tone. Of course, I know who he is talking about, I just don't want to answer his question.

"Eh? Aside from Jay, you also have something going on between my other friends?"

"Which one? Sunoo? Jake? Heeseung? But Heeseung's taken, though." He added.

What the fuck is he talking about?

"Jay is just my friend. Nothing more. Nothing less." I gulped after stating those words. He chuckled which made me feel annoy a little.

"Really?" He stood beside me and tilted his head to get a proper glimpse of my face, "So it's okay if we'll push through the engagement?"

I immediately looked at him and creased my forehead, "What do you mean?" I said as I slowly removed the cross in my arms.

His face became serious. He avoided my gaze and stared in front, "I told my family about how we dislike to marry each other. I am expecting them to understand me. Surprisingly, they did not. They are eager to marry us off. I am sure your grandfather as well. It will, after all, benefit both of our companies."

He turned his head again to look at me, "I thought about it for days already and to be honest, Miu. You are not that bad. If there's nothing going on between you and Jay..."

"I don't mind marrying you." He added.
