23 : Stay Awake (Stay With Me)

[ PARK JONGSEONG ]

"Miu..." I muttered under my breath. My hands are shaking but I tried hard to stay calm as possible so I could think carefully what to do. "Call the ambulance."

The staff nodded and gave Miu a quick glance before dialing the phone. The other staff members attempted to soothe the guests, while my parents worriedly went to us.

"Oh, my God..." Mom covered her mouth. Dad immediately held her arm when her knees began to weaken. She rubbed her temples and anxiously looked at Miu, who's bathing on her own blood, "How am I going to explain this to Mr. Hideo... no... no! He might take back the engagement. I can't let that happen!"

"You!" She properly stood up and pointed the staff, "Where's the fucking ambulance?!"

"T-they're on their way, Ma'am." The staff nervously responded. I clenched my fist.

Really... she's more concerned about that?

I looked at Miu again and bit my lower lip. I applied more pressure on her wound to somehow stop the bleeding, "Open your eyes, please..."

I got a little hope when she opened her eyes a bit, "I am... s-sleepy..."

"Stay awake. I am begging you, Miu..." I whispered.

She slowly nodded. I licked my lower lip and looked at the staff, "The ambulance. Where the fuck is it?"

The staff was about to reply when everyone around us was startled by the siren. I didn't wait for them to enter the restaurant, anymore. I immediately carried Miu and went out of the restaurant myself.

The medics who just went out of the vehicle helped me put Miu on the stretcher.

"Son." Father tapped my shoulder, "We'll follow using the car." I nodded and went inside the ambulance.

"The patient is fine."

We all exhaled in relief when the doctor said that. Mom, most especially. "Thank goodness..."

"Is she conscious?" I asked.

The doctor nodded and slightly smiled, "She will wake up soon. For now, you can stay beside her."

I took a deep breath and walked slowly into the room. I sat in the empty chair beside her bed and stared at her.

"How could you do that, Miu?" I held her hand gently kissed it, "Why would you..."

The door harshly opened so I immediately stood up. Nishimura Hideo and behind him is Riki, with a girl I cannot identify. They walked inside. Mr. Hideo first glanced at me before looking to her granddaughter.

"How is she?"

"The doctor said she will wake up soon, Mr. Nishimura."

Mr. Hideo did not bother to respond. He took a glance at Miu once again before he went outside to talk with my parents.

Riki, on the other hand, walked towards Miu's bed. He stared at his sister. My mouth widened a bit when I heard his scoff. He slowly turned around to look at me, "She took the bullet for you."

It wasn't a question. It was a statement. As if he already knew what happened.

He looked at Miu again, "Stupid. You're willing to sacrifice your own life for someone who can't even reciprocate your feelings." Riki said something I cannot hear clearly.

The girl cleared her throat, earning the attention from the both of us, "May I excuse myself, Young Masters..."

"Where are you going?" My right brow raised a bit when Riki's tone changed. I could hear... rage.

"I- I am going outside since-"

Riki sarcastically chuckled, "Are you going to address the situation to your so-called boss?" He faced the now anxious-looking girl, "Well, tell them they failed... and they will continue to fail... because I will make sure of that."

He stepped forward and drew his face closer to the girl, "I may be young, Yena, but I am just as ruthless as my grandfather." Riki sternly said.

"W-what are you saying, Young Master? I am just going to stay outside to give you privacy." The girl pursed her lips and bowed before turning around to leave the room.

Riki emotionlessly stared at her back before exhaling air. He placed his hands on his hips and looked up.

"Riki." I creased my forehead, "What do you mean by that?"

He shook his head, "Nothing. I am just trying to confirm something."
