Thump

Thump

Thump

The roof went. "Nah man something ain't right" I say.

We all huddle at the window and glance up trying to see what was going on outside. Suddenly a man falls from the sky right in front of us. We all jump back in fear.

Men start falling from the sky and suddenly a large cyclone starts outside where the machine Hank made was. Destroying it. A man was throw through the window that faced outside. Breaking the glass. On the side that held the rest of the building, men with guns scattered the place. "Stay in there!" A guy yelled.

Suddenly a red man appeared, then he vansihed into thin air as we yelled at them to shoot him. We were all ducking behind couches, Sean had a firm grasp on my arm. The red man went by stabbing each of the poor men with a sword he had. "Stay here my ass! Let's go" Darwin said.

We ran to the exit but soldiers prevented us from leaving, pushing us back into the lounge. "Let us go we can help you!" I yelled as they slammed the doors in our faces.

Sean's grip on my arm tightened and he urgently dragged me behind the couch. Protecting my head. "Close your eyes, you're OK, just close your eyes for me," he said.

I listened, I heard Raven crying, Alex yelling, Darwin shouting, and Angel's screaming. After the red man had killed everyone out there, he stepped inside and Sean pulled me up swiftly, shielding me with his body. Then the man that made the tornado stepped in on the other glass. Sean put me behind him, still guarding me. "You want the mutants! They're right through that door! Just let us normal people go!" A man pleaded. I heard him get shot.

Sebastian Shaw walked in the doors. "Where's the telepath?" He asked.

"Not here" the red man says.

"Well that means I can take this silly thing off." He says taking off a metal helmet he was wearing.

"My name is Sebastian Shaw and I'm not here to hurt you." He begins.

"I wonder what the fuck could've given us that impression." I say with hot tears flowing down my face.

He simply smirks. "I'm here because you are special, and I'm putting together an alliance of mutants that believe we are destined to rule the world. So you can stay, and fight for the people that hate and fear you. But just know if you aren't with us then by definition you're against us." He says.

"Or you can come with me and live like kings," he says his eyes lingering on Angel. "And queens."

He hold out his hand and Angel takes it.

"Angel?" Raven asks.

" You kidding me?" Sean asks.

"C'mon we don't belong here. And that's nothing to be ashamed of." She says.

They step over the glass and Darwin whispers something to Alex. "Wait!" Darwin yells.

"Im with you." Darwin says.

"Good choice, and what's your mutation?" Shaw says.

"I adapt to survive, so I guess I'm going with yall." Darwin says.

"Good choice." Shaw says as Darwin takes Angel's hand.

"ALEX!" Darwin yells as he covers Angel.

"Get back." Alex says shooting his beams at Shaw.

Instead of it killing Shaw he absorbs the energy. Shaw grabs Darwin by the face. "Sacraficing yourself for your fellow mutants, how sweet. Adapt to this." He says pushing a glowing pill into Darwins mouth.

Darwins body struggles to adapt to the pill as Shaw and his henchmen vanish. Darwin takes one last look at Alex before he turns into dust and vanishes into thin air.

"No no no God dammit!" I yell. Tears flood my face.

Alex stares blankly at where Darwin stood. A single tear leaves his eye before he wipes it away tentatively. "Is anyone hurt?" Hank asks.

"No." We all say.

"How long do you think it'll be til EMS gets here?" I ask.

"No idea." Hank says.

"Let's get outta here." Alex says.

"Alex it's best if we stay in here." Hank says.

"Well fuck it you guys can stay, but I'm getting the hell outta here." Alex says.

Sean and I follow after him. Sean was still holding my arm. I wasn't gonna stop him. There were bigger concerns at the moment than that. Raven and Hank followed behind us. We all took a seat on the benches outside waiting for cops to arrive. Sean and I sat against each other, his hand still protectively held my forearm. "Sean, you're still holding my arm." I whispered.

"Oh sorry," he said embarrassed, pulling away.

"No no it's ok." I say grabbing his hand, holding it in mine.

I rested my head on his shoulder, I was exhausted. When the cops finally got there they wouldn't let any of us leave. We sat there the whole night and until about 9 am the next morning. Sean and I didn't move from our position. Finally a car pulled up and Charles, Erik. And Moira stepped out. Charles ran over to Raven and I. I stood up and hugged him tightly.

"Im sorry this is over. We're gonna have to send you all home" Charles says.

"We're not going back home, he's not going back to prison." Sean said.

"He killed Darwin!" Alex said.

"And we can't even bury him." I add.

"But we can avenge him." Erik said to all of us.

"So what would that make us then, the Avengers?" I ask sarcastically.

"A word Erik." Charles said pulling him to the side.

They spoke momentarily. Once they had turned back to the group. "Where would we go, even if they reopen the department it won't be safe we've got no where to go." Hank says.

"Yes we do." Charles says.

"Where?" Sean asked.

"My house." Charles says.

"Not a house Charles, mansion." I correct him.

"It's in New York, if you're all in, we can train there." Charles says.

We were all in on it. We were gonna give Shaw hell for what he did to Darwin, and that was a promise.
