I awoke to arguing, not uncommon in the house I found myself in, but not typically so early in the morning. I heard footsteps before the door to the room was opened by Alex. "Gay son or thot daugh-" He stopped when he saw Sean and I.

"I suppose I should leave you two alone, also Charles wants all of us downstairs for a meeting after breakfast," Alex smiles awkwardly before closing the door.

"I'd chose gay son," Sean mumbles.

"Same," I agree.

"C'mon, let's go get breakfast," Sean suggests.

I dress myself in his clothes, they smell like him, I find it comforting being close to him. I first walk into the bathroom to brush my teeth and take a quick shower.

I then walk downstairs to the kitchen. No one else was there, I supposed Alex was in his room, and Hank was in the lab downstairs. Charles was probably in his room.

I heard the house phone ring while I was grabbing eggs from the fridge.

I answered it, "Alex, I've been trying to reach you for a little, they said they let you outta prison. I got moved to a- Alex? Hello?" A small voice over the line rang in my ears.

"Oh uhm sorry I'm not Alex, I can get him for you though. We live together. My name is y/n Xavier, what's yours?"

"My name is Scott, Scott Summers. I'm Alex's brother." He squeaks out.

I cover the phone so I don't yell at Scott. "ALEX!" I yell into the abyss of the mansion.

I hear footsteps quickly rushing to the kitchen. I'm greeted soon by Alex's face. "What?" he questions.
"This kid Scott Summers, he's on the line for you," I explain, handing Alex the phone.

Alex immediately takes the phone from my grasp. "Scott! Oh my god are you in New York?" he smiles.

His voice was very different when talking to Scott than it was around us. He was kind and gentle when talking to Scott. "Aw, but that sucks. Are you still in the same adoption agency though, right?" Alex asks after a moment.

"How are your new 'parents'?" Alex says the last word like a joke.

Scott talks for a bit over the phone. I finished cooking my eggs, I plated them and walked into the dining room. When I came back to grab a glass of milk Alex wasn't on the phone anymore and was instead standing by the kitchen island with his head in his hands. "-Oh uhm I should go-" He says realizing I returned.

When he faces me, I can see tears streaming down his face. Alex starts to walk out when I walk toward him and hug him. Alex freezes momentarily before hugging me back. More tears stream down his face, "he seems like a good kid," I whisper to him.

"-he-he is. He's a really good kid- and Oh man-" he mumbles between broken sobs.

This was the first time I had ever really seen Alex cry, even in Cuba he didn't cry, even when they were gonna send missiles at us, he didn't cry. Seeing him cry was weird, it made me feel nauseous and helpless all at once. "Alex is he ok?" I whisper.

"I don't know-he sounds alright-I just never see him-I-I try y'know-they just don't let me-" He says between sobs.

"He hasn't been adopted yet, has he?" I question.

"N-no. Why?"

"We have plenty of room, Alex. We can adopt him, I'm sure Charles wouldn't mind. If he doesn't, I will."

"No offense, but they very rarely let single people adopt." He finally calms down.

"Then I'll get married."
