Chapter 2

Hayes's POV

*BING *BING

I brought my hand up and slammed it down on my alarm clock

I leaned up and rubbed my eyes, why does it have to be Monday?

I rolled over and saw on my nightstand a picture of Vanessa and I ate a bonfire a couple of weeks ago

I blew it a kiss and got out of bed

I twisted my torso and heard my back pop and sighed in happiness

First football game of the season is this Friday and I plan on giving Vanessa my championship ring I received last year after we won state championship

It's a pretty big deal for me since I'm quarterback and I should keep the ring, but she's the one for me so she deserves it

I ran to the shower quickly and threw on some jeans, t-shirt, football noodie (a sweatshirt with no hood) and my nikes.

I checked myself out in the mirror and fixed my hair to its perfect position

"Benjamin your gonna be late!" My dad yelled from down stairs

"I'm coming!" I yelled back and grabbed my gym bag and book bag

I jogged down the stairs in a hurry and grabbed my car keys and kissed my moms cheek

"Bye mom! See ya at school dad" I said without looking back and exited the front door of my house. As I was walking out I saw Kaitlyn getting into her red convertible in her drive way

I saw she looked over at me and smiled, I waved to her and jogged across the street to her

She gave me a confused look and closed her car door and leaned on the side

"Hey Hayes?" She said crossing her arms

"Hey Kaitlyn, mind if I ride with you today? I've never rode in your car before" I said looking at the new model and running my hand on the shining red trunk

"Uh sure, hop in" Kaitlyn said reopening her car door and sliding in

I smiled and jogged around the car to the passengers side and jumped in

Kaitlyn backed out and drove off staying in silence the whole way to the school. I had no clue what to talk about with her so I stayed silent as well

Finally reaching school, Kaitlyn parked in the student parking and got out quickly. She started walking off leaving me still in her car when I yelled for her

"Yes?" She asked turning back around

"Thanks for the ride" I said getting out of the car

She nodded her head and walked on

I was so confused at why she was acting so different. Yes we don't talk as much or hang out as much but I am still her best friend. At least I think I am

I was cut out of my thoughts when Vanessa popped up in front of me

"Hey haysiepoo!" She said kissing my cheek

I smiled and grabbed her hand, "hey babe, so ready for this Friday's football game?"

Vanessa nodded "the cheerleaders and I have come up with a really good cheer for the first game that I think you'll like"

Suddenly the bell rang and I groaned realizing I would be late and so would Vanessa

Vanessa's face went white and and started sprinting into the school, I followed and ran to my locker
