It was lunch time.

I spent the past five minutes staring at the door waiting for Karma to walk in with lunch. Since working together we've developed a schedule. During her last press interview, she would order us lunch and go get it. But since the accident she would either have it delivered or Jagger and Cole would go out to fetch it.

My eyes shifted towards the clock on my shelf.

12:05.

Five more minutes until she walked through the door. Oddly, she always entered my office at 12:10, no earlier and no later.

I sighed, running my hand over my head as I picked up my phone and looked through my unread messages for the day. Heading over to the family group chat, I noticed that Gio had sent a photo of baby Marco's reaction to pureed peas.

He did not like them– not one bit.

I bit back my reaction of a red faced Marco, his mouth opened as he threw a mini tantrum. His little fist was bawled up and Gio was in the background with Ryan trying to hold in their laughter. I could only imagine the stress that the three of them were putting poor Sage through.

Even mad Coco Puffs still looked adorable– such a cute little devil's spawn.

I typed back a quick adorable with the dead emoji. That was soon followed by Gianni sending a voice memo of his horrendous hyena laughing and a slight dig thrown towards Ryan.

'' Why does Ryan look like a constipated demon when he tries to hold back laughter?''

I zoomed in on the photo after the voice memo was done. And he was right, Ryan did in fact look constipated as he stared at the camera.

The sound of the door creaking open had me looking at the time– 12:10.

Looking up I see Karma enter the office with a bag in her hand and a cup holder with our drinks. Standing up, I pushed my chair back and approached her, taking the bag filled with Mediterranean food out of her hands. Her heels clacked against the floor as she walked behind me with the drinks.

I placed the bag on the table before turning around and leaning against the edge of my table. Karma came up out of her heels like she usually does, giving her feet a break and sat on the arm of the leather couch in front of my desk.

She had been a little off ever since brunch with the girls the other day.

I didn't ask her about it because I wanted her to come to me with what was on her mind, but the longer she stayed out of it, the more I became worried that something was wrong.

Pushing away from the desk I approached her. Standing in between her legs now, I grabbed her cheeks softly and forced her to look at me. Her cheeks were squished, making her look like a cute little chipmunk as she stared up at me.
