YOUR POV

We get up and gather our things. Newt and I walk side by side at the back of the group. We don't talk, but it's just a good feeling to know he's there. We walk for what seems like forever. The sun seems to be particularly hot today. Everyone is sweating a lot. A look over at Newt and his face is as red as an apple. He looks very uncomfortable. In fact, everyone looks very uncomfortable.

"We need to find water." Newt says. "Now."

"There is no water, Newt. We just have to keep going."

"We have to find some! I'm dying over here!"

"Newt, we're all thirsty. There is no water though. We just have to push through it." I say. Newt looks like he is thinking things over mentally. He clenches his fists so hard they go white, then unclenches them slowly.

"Okay. I get it." He says softly. We keep walking for a while until we see a city faintly in the distance.

"A city!" Sonya says with joy.

"We won't make it there today, but we'll get there tomorrow." Minho says. We keep walking for a while until the sun is almost down. Minho was right, we don't make it there before sundown. We settle down on the hot sand and get ready to sleep.

"Y/n?" Newt whispers after everyone has fallen asleep.

"Yes?" I say.

"I'm so sorry for the way I've been acting lately. I don't know what's gotten into me. I just feel very off. I don't know what it is."

"It's okay. I get it. The sun is very hot and we aren't used to any of this. Not to mention you probably don't like the fact that people have been watching you for years, and killing your friends on purpose. I get it."

"Thank you for understanding." He says as he brushes my hair back. He looks me straight in the eye for a long time, them leans his face into mine. Our lips press together softly, as if he is scared he might hurt me if he does it any harder. I smile and kiss him back.
