"I've missed you," He said walking towards me with Adrian next to him
I bit the inside of my cheek, "I've been busy," I lied
"With what?"
I shrugged, "Just... stuff,"
We stared at each other m, both trying to find something to say to each other
"The play's good," Elliot says
I nod, "Yeah, Lex put a lot of work in to it,"
"I can tell,"
I rock on the heels of my feet
"Is Serenity supposed to be you?" He asks
"Um, yeah, I guess." I run my fingers through my hair, "Lexi told us she was writing a play, I guess she forgot to mention we're a large part of it," I chuckled
The right side of his mouth perked up in a grin, "Yeah, that'd probably want to be something you know before going to a show,"
I nodded, "Can I ask you something?"
"Shoot," Both of his hands were his pants pockets
"I- um, well Rue told me that- that Jules was wearing your clothes the day after Maddy's party. When I called and asked if we could hang out and you said you were busy or whatever," I ran my hand over Adrian's head as he clung to my leg
"Yeah, her and Rue got in a fight that night so I just let her stay over. It wasn't anything serious," He placed a hand under my chin and lifted it so I could look at him, "I promise, it was nothing more than that,"
I nodded, "I believe you," I mumbled
He kissed my forehead and wrapped his arms loosely around my body
He stood in silence for a minute before I was reminded of the other thing that Rue told me that night
"Are you doing drugs?" I mumbled against his shoulder
I felt his body stiffen, "Why?"
"'Cause I feel like that's something I should know," I pulled away enough to look at him but I was still in his grasp
"I've been clean since me and Jules went to Rue's," He said
"What 'bout before?"
"What about it?"
"Were you clean?"
He looks away from me, his eyes dating across the hall, "Every time we hung out I wasn't on anything," He said looking me in the eyes for a response or emotion or something
I bit the inside of my cheek and nodded, "Okay,"
He hugged me again, tighter this time
"I love you so much," Elliot mumbled into my shoulder
I closed as my eyes and nodded, a sad smile reaching my face as I squeezed my eyes shut
