Unfortunate Nixie

Chapter 9

I returned to the shore soaked with salt water. Filled with anger. I stomped on the sand with force making it rise up to stick to my wet legs. Then I looked up, while Marie ran towards me.

"Nixie!! Where were you? I was worried sick!"

"I found mom!" I said with a ball in my throat.

"What?! Where is she?!" She asked.

"In a air pocket cave. Come on I'll show you." I said jumping back into water.

An hour passes and we reached the cave. We slowly creeped in and found that everyone was gone, including mom.

"Nixie are you sure you just didn't drink too much salt water?"

"Yes!" I yelled. "Where could they have gone?"

I began to cry with frustration. I was sick of playing hide and seek with Oceana. I fell to the hard rock floor and buried my face in my hands and just let go.

"Nixie!" I heard someone yell. I looked up with tears running down my face. It was Starla.

"What's the matter?"Marie asked.

"Nixie, Oceana's looking for you. She knows you're alive. She went to the beach to find you."

"That's it, I've had it with her and her games! I'm gonna end this now!"

I ran to the ocean and swam as fast as I could.

"Nixie, wait up."

"Slow down!" They yelled to me.

But I couldn't stop. I was too angry. My adrenaline was rushing in my body. I couldn't stop even if I tried.

I reached the surface of the beach. The sun was beginning to set. The sky was different shades of pink, gold, and orange.

I looked around for Oceanna but the beach was deserted.

"The house!!!" I yelled. "Hannah! Ryan!!!" I immediately ran towards the house hoping that they were both okay.

I ran into the front door knocking it completely down.

"Hannah?! Ryan!" I yelled.

"Nixie?" Ryan called.

We called each other's names back and forth as if we were playing Marco Polo. Then I turned the corner and found Oceana and Ryan in the living room.

"Don't you dare hurt him!" I yelled.

We paused for a while. I looked down at Ryan and he mouthed "Help me!"

"What do you want from me?" I asked her.

"I want you dead!"

"Why?! I didn't do anything to you!"

"You took my chance to become queen away from me! And now you'll pay."

With a snap of her fingers Ryan immediately turned to ice.

"Ryan ! No!" I screamed. I ran to his cold body. I slowly took deep breaths then I asked...

"Where's Hannah and mom?!"

"Your mom is too busy dying and I haven't found that stupid red head yet."

Did she just insult herself too?
I ran out to the backyard with Oceana slowly following behind me.

Mom was let out of her cage on the ground. She could barely stand.

"Mom!" I said running towards her. I got down on my knees and put my hand on her her shoulder. I looked into her eyes and she looked into mine. Tears began to welled in my eyes as to see her suffer broke my heart.

"Mom... How can I help you?"

"Water... Need... Water."

I ran to get the sprinkler.

"Nixie?... You're out of the hospital?" Hannah's voice asked ringing in my ears.

I turned to Hannah. My face showed terror.

"Hannah, run!" I yelled.

The next thing I knew Hannah made a painful noise and fainted to the ground.
