Hannah was shacking me softly to wake me up for school.
"Nixie, wake up! C'mon it's the last day! You don't wanna be late do you?"
"If I say yes can I go back to sleep?" I said with my eyes closed.
"Nice try Nix but you have to go."
"Alright, alright. I'm going."
Hannah turned and walked out.
Slowly taking my time I got out of my bed and stood up. I made my way to the fish bowl to my goldfish, Annie. I smiled remembering the day Hanna took me to rescue her from the pet store. It was a beautiful summer day. I was about 9 years old, and I was helping Hannah and Ryan clean the house.
"Nixie, if we hurry up we can still make it to the pet store.""Okay." I said.
I was so excited. I remembered how bad I wanted a pet. The only catch was that I couldn't have a dog or cat. Hannah was allergic to cats and the apartment complex didn't allow dogs. Anyway we finally made it to the pet store. And I saw this beautiful fish.
"I want her!" I said to Hannah.
"Are you sure that's what you want?" Hanna said.
I went up closer to the tank and starred at her. I instantly fell in love. I turned to Hannah and said, "Her name is Annie."
Hannah smiled and we brought the small fish home.
I walked back to the bowl and fed her after getting dressed.
"That was forever ago wasn't it girl?" I said talking to the fish.
"Let's see you'll be what? Nine this summer."Annie seemed as fit as a fiddle. For a nine year old fish. I poured the flakes in her bowl and she ate away. I grabbed my backpack and headed to school.
