Ally's pov
Today was bittersweet. I was officially calling it quits with Dinah. Normani, THE FUCKING NORMANI KORDEI HAMILTON, likes me back. I feel like hijacking our performance tonight at the charity ball to sing Normani a love song. However, I couldn't help but to think of the negatives. If I cut ties with Dinah then I would have had to cut ties with being a medical examiner. A job that I love so much. I would have had to run my parent's business. I would have so much to adjust to. If I choose Dinah, I would have had the career I want, but a relationship that I hate. If I chose Normani, I would have the woman that I love, but a career I hate. Decision. Decisions. Decisions. That's all I have.
We had to get there early because Normani was one of the organizers. Luckily, everything was set up. She left me and Megan alone to double check everything.
"Thank you for earlier contact with Normani." I told Megan. We were sitting backstage. I was tuning my guitar, she was on her phone.
"No problem. If you break my little sister's heart, well you know the rest." She cracked her knuckles.
I smiled. "Don't worry. I'm going to do right by her. I just have to get my life situated. You know."
"Yeah, I understand." She nodded. "What song are yall singing tonight?"
"Antidote by Faith Marie." It was a slow song that made me feel vulnerable when I sang it.
"Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!" Tori entered the room we are in. I was glad that she was in a good mood. She was wearing a simple black gown. She looks good.
"Hey Tori!" Megan smiled.
"Hey bitch! Are you coming to chill with us?" I stood up from my seat.
"Yeah! That girl of yours had been ruining my vibe. I can't even enjoy my evening with Lauren." She hands me my engagement ring from Dinah.
"She rode with yall?" I put the ring on my finger. It felt weird. It felt wrong.
"No, it was too late for her to cancel the car service. She rode in her car and we rode in another. But she was on the phone with Lauren the whole time. Just a heads up, she's been drinking."
"Why does she insist on making my life so difficult?" I groan. "Was she drinking brown or white?"
"White. She was drinking tequila." Tori rolled her eyes. "You're going to be in for it.
"I know." I grimaced. "She's flirty when she drinks tequila."
"Normani is not going to like that." Megan let out a humorless laugh.
"Huh? Why would Normani care?" Tori frowned at me. "You've been telling her secrets that you can't tell your best friend?"
"Nope." I shook my head and returned to my seat. If I told Tori now then she would make a big scene out of it. Then she would tell Lauren, and Lauren would tell Dinah. I didn't need that negativity right now.
"Then why would she care?" Tori folded her arms
"Because She was my friend. Duh." I smiled.
Tori smacked her lips at my response. "Why are you in a good mood? What are you keeping from me Allyson Brooke Hernandez?"
"I got some good news. I'll tell you everything tomorrow." I assured her.
"You fucking better and don't you dare leave out any details." She rolled her eyes before taking a seat next to me.
"I will. Damn. Chill. Are you ready to sing?"
"Yeah." She shrugged.
Normani walked into the room and I smiled. She was so beautiful. "Great! You're here, Tori. Y'all ready to do this sound check?"
