Dinah's pov
I slept with Camila. I had no idea how I was going to tell Ally. I felt terrible.
A knock at the door interrupted my trail of thought. It was probably Ally or Lauren. I had been avoiding everyone. "Who is it?" I asked from my spot on the couch. I knew damn well that I was not about to get up to unlock the door. I just wanted to be alone.
"It's Ally. Open the door Dinah. I just need to know that you are okay." This really couldn't be happening today.
I poured myself another glass of vodka. "I'm fine Ally. Go home."
"Dinah, you aren't fine. When was the last time you ate? Open the door. Please." Ally pleaded, her voice laced with concern.
"I ate breakfast this morning and I've been drinking water to stay hydrated. I am fine, I promise. Just leave me alone." I lied.
"Dinah, I will be back later. Don't do anything stupid. I love you."
Hearing her say those words made me snap. "You love me? Fuck off. You've made it very clear for months that you are still in love with Normani. Your secret meetings prove to me that nothing has changed. Judging from the way you two were holding and looking at each other the other day, yall are probably fucking. You can't love two people at the same time Ally. Stop playing with my feelings and go be with her since you want her so badly. Oh wait you can't because she doesn't love you. She loves me."
"Most of that was incoherent but I think I got what you were trying to say. I understand that you are grieving, but don't take it out on the few people you have. I'm sorry that I have been nothing but honest with you. I wish you would have told me that months ago instead of bottling that shit up. I have never been nor will I ever be a cheater. I'm so tired of having that conversation. You knew she was coming to get the autopsy report. The first time I saw Mani after the bar was when she showed up to my office unannounced. That was the only time, but you know that already. You just wanted to start some shit because you are miserable right now. You blame yourself for his death and I don't know why because you won't let me in." She started calmly.
"Oh so yall got nicknames for each other now? Ally you are nothing but a freak and a weirdo who likes to be around dead people." I snapped.
"Bet. Since that is really how you see me, I'm going to leave before I break your windows or say something that I can't take back. I'll see you at the funeral in two hours."
"No, go ahead and get it off your chest now. While we are here." The sound of her car pulling off, told me that she didn't hear the last part.
Shit, what was I going to wear? My uniform. Duh. I stared at the ceiling. Another knock at the door. I rolled my eyes. Why wouldn't people just leave me the fuck alone. "Who is it?"
"It's Normani." Normani? What the hell did she want? I got up and opened the door for her.
"What do you want?" I asked, skipping the pleasantries.
She visibly gagged. "What have you been drinking? Your breath smells terrible. Got damn."
"You've already taken my woman. You came to defend her honor or did you just come here to insult me?" I poked her.
Normani smacked my hand away from her. "What? Obviously, you need to slow down on the bottle. I could barely understand what you just said. I am too tired and hung over to be thinking right now. I don't know how many times that I have to say this, so let me put it like this. Then maybe you will understand. I am not a fucking homewrecker. I could never do something like that to anyone, especially not Ally. Whatever you say to her, you need to apologize and make it right. Be lucky that she gave you a chance. In this whole situation, you are the only one winning. The girl you love was making an effort to love you back. You dumbass. Stop fucking up your own happiness. Evidently, you don't think you deserve to be loved, so you need to fix that problem. My dad is dead. I should be at home getting ready with my family. Here take this. Daddy left you some things. He wanted you to wear a couple of things to the funeral. Make sure you sober up before then. I will not hesitate to have you thrown out."
