Five months have passed, and I’m still courting Mina. I’m planning to ask her to be mine later. I’m kind of nervous because it could be heart-breaking or heart-fixing. Haha, corny.
Anyway, I’m currently buying a bouquet of flowers. I checked my pocket to make sure the necklace is still there—it is. I’m scared that someone might steal it. I spent a lot of money on it, and I really hope she’ll appreciate it.
This is it! I asked her to go to the park, so now I’m heading there.
I hid the flowers behind my back as I searched for her, but then I froze at what I saw. What a perfect time to ruin my moment.
Mina and Jackson were kissing passionately, sitting on the bench where we always sat.
I accidentally dropped the flowers, causing them to notice me. My tears started to fall as I ran away as fast as I could.
"Nayeonnie!" I heard Mina call.
I went to the place I always go when I’m in pain, happy, or upset.
"Mom, Dad, it hurts," I cried, my chest pounding with pain. "I wish I could be with you right now, but I can’t."
I felt the rain begin to fall, but I ignored it. The pain didn’t lessen, so it didn’t deserve my attention.
"Please let me be with you, Mom."
I sobbed harder, running blindly until I reached a beach. I shouted into the wind, not caring if anyone heard me.
"It hurts!!" I cried out. "But for your happiness, it’s fine."
"Someone, please take this pain away from me!!!"
My body collapsed onto the white sand. "I’m tired." And then everything went black.
"What the hell are you doing here, Nayeon?!" Jihyo asked, her voice filled with disappointment.
I didn’t answer, tears streaming down my face.
Jihyo let out a stressed sigh. "What happened between you and Mina this time?"
I shook my head. "Nothing."
"Oh, come on! You wouldn’t be like this if something wasn’t wrong."
I placed my head on her chest and cried. "Mina and Jackson were kissing passionately."
"Nayeonnie, please let me explain," Mina begged.
I looked at her coldly as she gave me her pleading eyes.
"I saw him and tried to ignore him, but he approached me, begging for forgiveness. He promised he wouldn’t hurt me again because he realized he really loves me." She paused and took my hand. I looked at our hands without emotion. "I’m here to tell you to stop courting me now, Nayeonnie. You deserve better. You don’t deserve me."
I chuckled bitterly. "I deserve better? Yes, but you could’ve just said that you and Jackson got back together. If that’s the case, you can go get your things from my room and live with him."
"Nayeonnie..."
"Mina, I’m tired. Please. I don’t want to argue anymore."
"Sorry, forgive me. I’m so sorry for hurting you. I’m sorry for making you wait, only to choose him in the end." She said.
I felt my heart pounding painfully again. "It’s fine. Go get your things now and have a safe ride." I gave her one last smile, and she left.
Nyn.
