"So you’ll be staying here again?" Ji-eun asked Mina, her mouth full of food.
"Yes, of course," Mina replied softly.
I couldn’t help but admire her profile. She looked like an angel, even if she was numb. She was still the one I loved.
"Stop looking at me so lovingly, Nayeonie," Mina said bashfully.
"Sorry, I just can’t help it. You’re so beautiful," I said sincerely.
"Okay kids, let’s not do that while grandma is here," Ji-eun joked, acting like an old lady. We laughed, but she playfully whined, "You shouldn’t laugh at your grandma."
"We can’t help it; this is the first time we’ve seen a whining grandma," I joked. Mina laughed, but Ji-eun glared at me.
"Uh-oh," I said just before Ji-eun playfully started to tickle me. Mina laughed as I tried to escape.
"Grandma, stop! It’s tickling!" I said, gasping for breath. "Ji-eun, hahaha!"
I fell off my chair, laughing uncontrollably. "Ji-eun, get back here!" I shouted as I saw her running.
"OUCH!" We heard her hiss as she slipped. Mina and I struggled to hold back our laughter as I ran to Ji-eun and started tickling her. "Nayeon, it tickles!"
"Okay kids, stop," Mina said, trying to regain control.
"Oh, are you the new grandma?" I asked innocently before Mina punched my shoulder.
"Ouch! I’m just joking, Mina."
"I don’t care, you called me grandma!" she said, pretending to be mad.
"Ha! Jerry is mad," Ji-eun teased. "AAAAHHH!" she screamed as Mina chased her around.
I was about to eat a piece of bacon when Ji-eun accidentally bumped into me, causing it to fall.
I fake-cried like a child, and they just laughed at me. "You grandmothers are so bad. Laughing at your granddaughter," I pouted.
"I’m sorry, kid, but we don’t have a granddaughter like you," Ji-eun said, making me pout even more. "And if we’re the grandmothers, does that mean we’re married?" She looked at Mina seductively. Mina smirked. Oh gosh.
"Stop! There’s still a kid here!" I said, but Ji-eun only smirked.
"Just admit that you’re jealous, kid," Ji-eun teased.
I groaned loudly. "I am not jealous, okay?" My eyes rolled as I heard giggles.
"Yaah! What’s happening here?" Sana and Jihyo walked in, startling us.
We quickly composed ourselves as Sana and Jihyo joined us at the table.
"What’s going on? You all seem to be in a mess," Sana asked.
They joined us for breakfast. "This tastes great! Who cooked this?" Jihyo asked, tasting one of Ji-eun’s dishes.
Ji-eun raised her hand. "This is delicious," Jihyo said with a smile.
"Thank you," Ji-eun said bashfully.
My phone rang, and I saw it was the girl I met at the bar. "Hello! What’s your name again?" I asked.
"Jeon Somi."
"Okay, Jeon Somi, do you have any problems?"
"Can I come to your house?"
"Sure, I’ll text you the address."
"Okay, bye!" she said cheerfully.
I texted her the address and waited. A few minutes later, we heard a knock. "It must be Somi," I mumbled.
"Hey, kid!" I said happily, hugging her.
"So, guys, this is Somi. We met at a place I go sometimes," I introduced carefully.
"Hello!" Somi greeted shyly. I glanced at Mina, who looked disappointed.
"Come eat with us. We’ve made a big breakfast," I offered, and Somi quickly accepted.
"Guys, I’ll get something upstairs," Mina said.
I sensed something was wrong. "I forgot something upstairs too," I said, giving them an apologetic smile. They nodded in understanding.
I knocked on Mina’s door. It unlocked but didn’t open fully.
"Mina," I called softly. "What’s happening?"
"You broke your promise," she said sadly.
"I promised not to save or call the person I met at the bar."
"Mina, I just want to help her. She’s a minor and doesn’t deserve that kind of job. She’s too young for it."
"Sorry, I didn’t know," she said sadly.
"It’s fine. Now that you know, let’s go back downstairs and join them," I said, kissing her forehead.
"Let’s go."
We went downstairs holding hands. "Oh, did you two make it official?" Sana asked.
"Oh no! We just…" I started.
"We just talked about something," Mina finished.
"Okay! I thought you two were up to something," Sana smirked.
"Stop this conversation, there’s a kid here," I said.
Sana pretended to zip her mouth. We laughed at her cuteness.
"Aww! My baby is cute," Jihyo said, pinching Sana’s cheeks. Sana leaned in so Jihyo could reach.
"Whipped! Whipped, whipped (wipe) it down, whipped," we sang the TikTok trend where you wipe the window and transform into hot, like Mina.
"So, Ji-eun, did Somi get the job?" I asked, eager for an answer.
"Fortunately, yes," Ji-eun said happily.
Somi’s eyes widened and she got teary-eyed. "Aww! Baby Somi is crying!!" I said, hugging her.
"Aww!" everyone shouted.
"I have a question!" Ji-eun shouted.
We all looked at her. "If I get a job, will I be called baby too?" she teased.
"Urgh! Shut up, Ji-eun," I said in annoyance.
"Okay, okay," she said, laughing.
"Are you ready for your new job later?" I asked Somi.
"Yes, unnie! I’m excited and ready!" she said.
"For family!"
"Yes! For family!" she echoed.
"Ji-eun will give you the uniform later."
Mina leaned in and whispered, "Let’s go upstairs."
Nyn.
