I nervously sat in the ambulance, glancing at Nayeonnie. Blood stained her clothes around the stab wound. I was relieved she hadn't done anything crazier, but seeing her like this was heartbreaking.

She looked at me and managed a smile despite her condition. I loved her even more for her bravery, though it made me frustrated. She held my hand and closed her eyes as we waited to arrive at the hospital.

When we finally reached the hospital, they wheeled her into the emergency room. I stayed outside, staring at the floor, unable to shake the worry that she was hurt because of me.

I felt a tap on my shoulder and looked up to see Satang. I hugged her tightly.

She gently patted my back, and soon Jihyo arrived.

"She’ll be fine, Mina," Jihyo said softly.

"I just can't help but worry. She was still smiling at me in the ambulance," I said, tears streaming down my face.

They both chuckled, trying to comfort me.

"She smiled at you, so she must be okay," Jihyo said.

"I'll go outside for a bit. Stay with Mina, okay?" Sana said, and Jihyo nodded.

Sana broke our hug, and I hugged Jihyo instead. I was grateful for their support.

"Here, have some ice cream," Sana said, handing us a couple of gallons. "Mitang is eating the ice cream in white."

I glanced down at my wedding gown, realizing I was still in it. I chuckled, feeling a bit embarrassed but also understanding that they knew I was a bride today.

A light tapping on my leg drew my attention to a cute little girl.

"Hi! Are you an angel?" she asked innocently.

I smiled widely. "Oh no, I'm not an angel, honey."

She pouted. "Why do you look like one?"

"Oh no, you must be the angel," I replied.

"But I’m not wearing anything special, and you? You look like an angel. Can you adopt me, Angel?" she said, her eyes sparkling.

"Ryujin! You're over here," an older woman called, approaching us. She must be the girl's grandmother.

"Grandma!" Ryujin said, hugging her. "Look! There's an angel here."

Her grandmother chuckled. "She’s a bride, Ryujin."

"Oh? Are you married, eoni?" Ryujin asked innocently.

"No, cutie. I didn't marry him," I said, shaking my head.

"Is Ms. Im's family here?" the doctor asked.

I stood up and said goodbye to Ryujin and her grandmother.

"I'm her..."

Oh shoot, what should I say?

"Girlfriend," I finally managed.

The doctor nodded and said I could go inside.

"Girlfriend, huh?" Sana teased as I entered.

I felt Nayeonnie’s hand move, and I knew she was waking up. "Nayeonnie?"

She smiled weakly. "Mina."

"I’ll call the doctors," I said, but she spoke again.

"I love you."

I froze and turned to her. Slowly, I walked to her bedside and leaned in. "I love you too."

She smiled. "Let’s be together."
