The five minute bell rings and I use the iron handle to lift me off of the last bathroom stall's floor. I take a quick glimpse in the mirror and see that my eyes are black. Like holes of darkness. First it surprises me, but after a few seconds I notice that its mascara.

Was I crying?

I clean up my wet eyes and dig for a bottle to re-apply it.

What am I going to do in class? Where am I going to sit at lunch? How does he think of me?

I get a sickening feeling in my stomach, like dizziness...

I know... I will go and complain to the nurse about my stomach then she will let me leave for the day.

I walk to the nurse and enter in the room with a believable sick face.

"Hey whats up?" The nurse asks with a concerned look.

"I am starting to feel dizzy and a little nauseated. Honestly, I think it was something I ate." I sit in a chair.

The nurse places her hands on her hips. "Well, you can lay down for a couple minutes, then see if you feel well enough to go to class... I'll write you a pass if you turn out alright."

"Okay, I'll probably take a five minute nap." I stand to walk over to the cot, while holding my stomach.

These are pretty comfy if you ask me, I might just do this more often...

I pull my phone out from my back pocket when she isn't looking. I stalk my old friends account for a few minutes, until I catch myself crying. Again. I wipe away my tears that keep coming. Soon, my eyes feel itchy and they burn a little.

The nurse checks on me and at the last second, I quick hide my phone.

"Oh my sweetie. You aren't looking very well..."

I slowly blink and inhale. "I don't feel any better, as a matter of fact, I feel worse than before."

"Alright, well, I think it's time for you to call your mother. I give you permission to use your phone." She stands up and walks back to her desk.

I whip out my phone and call my mom.

Mom: "Hello?"

Me: "Hey ma, I'm not feeling well at school, I know it's early, but can you pick me up?"

Mom: "Are you sure you can't stay a little while longer?"

Me: "Mom, even the nurse suggested I call you to bring me home. I think that's enough proof."

Mom: "Okay, you're lucky that I have the day off of work today, the boss had surgery."

Me: "Oh..."

Mom: "Well I'll be there in ten, so be ready."

Me: "Okay... See you soon."

Mom: " I love you sweetie."

Me: "Love you."

I hang up and look at the nurse. "She's on her way."

"Okay, go pack your things and come back when you're finished." She turns back to her computer monitor, clicking and highlighting.

Little did she know that my backpack was already packed, so I left with it on my shoulder and had free roam of the empty halls for ten minutes.

I walk past my locker and pretend to gather my things when I'm really looking for a piece of paper and a pencil.

Buried under some books was a broken pencil that could still make a mark. I tear a corner of paper off of one of my assignments.

In my neatest handwriting, I say,

Sorry about this morning, I hope I didn't scare you, or anything,

and most of all if I hurt you, I didn't mean to... I feel really crappy

about what I did and I just wanted to say I sorry. Here's my phone

number, I hope to talk to you soon. 584-555-9327 Btw: I went

home sick. Love you babe. <3

Harper

I run to his locker and slip the note inside, and walk back to the nurse's office... happy.
