Without You (KanaMari)

Why?

Kanan was lying in bed. She wouldn't let anyone in, not even her grandfather. Kanan was looking at a photo of her and Mari. It had been a few hours since they saw their best friend Ohara Mari die. "Why did this have to happen? Why......" Kanan cried wondering why life had to be so cruel.

*Flashback*
Kanan and Dia were at the Ohara residence to see Mari off, but they couldn't have predicted what happened next as they watched. They watched as the helicopter with their friend in it exploded over the ocean. This was more traumatic for Kanan than Dia, and Dia knew it when Kanan screamed a heart-wrenching scream and fell to her knees. Dia immediately hugged her friend as they cried, and a few minutes later Dia took Kanan home and laid her in her bed a few minutes later Kanan fell asleep and Dia stayed for an hour before going home.

*Present*
Kanan cried, remembering what had happened. "Mari....." Kanan cried as she pulled the covers over her face and cried harder. "How could this happen? I didn't even get to say goodbye for the last time...." Kanan cried as she looked at her voicemails. She just wanted to hear Mari's voice as she played the voicemail "Kanan! How are you? I know I just saw you, but I just wanted to make sure you got home safe. Kanan stay shiny! Bye!" Mari said in the voicemail as Kanan cried more and more holding her chest as she cried.

Eventually there was a knock on the door. "Kanan.....?" Chika said "Can we come in....?" You asked "I don't want to see anyone.....please leave....." Kanan cried "We aren't leaving!" Chika exclaimed "We know you won't want to talk....but we aren't leaving until you let us in!" You exclaimed, "Go away!!!!" Kanan cried as Chika, and You sat outside Kanan's door. Kanan was heartbroken, so she decided to take the rest of the year off because she wasn't in the right state of mind to continue. Kanan eventually came out. "Kanan!!!!!!!!" Chika and You said, hugging Kanan. "I'm taking the rest of the year off and probably next year too...." Kanan said, trying not to cry. "We'll come by every day to check on you, we promise!" Chika and You said, "Thanks...You two can go home now. I'll be fine...I promise....." Kanan said, holding back tears. "I can stay over, and mom said I can skip tomorrow to stay with you." Chika said, "My mom said the same thing." You said, "You, I'll be fine tomorrow. You guys can go to school, plus you'll both be the first-years next year, so don't mess up your grades......" Kanan said, "Our teachers will understand it's an emergency." You said "Okay...." Kanan said as they went into Kanan's room. "I won't be able to go to the funeral....." Kanan said "Why not?" You asked "Her mother hates Dia and I I'll just visit her grave after she always loved our time alone....." Kanan said as tears streamed down her face. Chika and You went to sleep, but Kanan stayed up. She couldn't sleep. She knew she would have nightmares.
