Back to school

It's been two years since Mari's death, Kanan finally felt well enough to go back to school and got into her third-year uniform. Kanan went to the cemetery like she did every day. "Mari, I'm going back today. I miss you. I wish you were here with us....." Kanan said as she left and headed to school but stood at the gate. Dia walked up to Kanan. "Kanan, let's walk in together...." Dia said as they walked inside to the student council office. "I'm glad you're back, but I know why you took off...." Dia said, "Yeah...But Dia, I think we should rejoin Aqours even if it's just us two Mari would want us to." Kanan said, "Do you think they'll let us?" Dia asked, "Chika asked me. I used the I'm a third-year excuse, but I think it will help us...." Kanan said, "At lunch, we'll talk to them." Dia said as they went to class.

At lunch, Kanan and Dia when to find Chika. "Kanan!!! You're back!!!" Chika exclaimed. "That's not why we're here." Kanan said, "I'm not going to get into it because Kanan's still fragile, but we want to join the group." Dia said, "Really, Onee-Chan?!" Ruby exclaimed, "Yes." Dia said, "But you refused to make us an official club?" Chika said, "It's because of what happened two years ago...." Kanan said, "When we saw....and hearing Kanan's scream, it was terrible, and I'm not going to say anymore because Kanan will cry, but that's why I kept rejecting the club application...." Dia said, "You three were school idols?" You questioned, "Yes..." Kanan said, "What happened?" Riko asked, "It's my fault if I hadn't, Mari would still be here....." Kanan said, holding back her tears, "She can't be a part of this conversation. It's too hard for her...." Dia said, "You tell them I'll wait inside..." Kanan said, going inside. "Mari was getting offers to study abroad in Italy, and right before our live show Mari hurt her ankle, and Kanan decided not to sing to make sure Mari didn't injure herself further, and then we decided to quit even ignored Mari's calls as we were walking out, but Mari decided to go and didn't make it....." Dia said, ignoring her feelings, "Just like her grandmother....." Chika whispered, "She feels like it's her fault she won't stop blaming herself, but she's gotten better....." You said as Chika You and Dia got a text. "She left..." Dia said, "I'm going after her!" Chika said, getting up. "I'll cover for you." You said as Chika went after Kanan.

Chika caught up to Kanan. "Kanan!! Wait!!!" Chika yelled, "Go back to school. I thought I could come. I thought I could get through the day, but I can't.....Mari's dead. The love of my life is dead because of me. I can't get over that. Go back. To school, I'll see you after....." Kanan cried, running away as fast as she could as Chika ran after her, but Kanan got on the boat, and Chika went back to school.

Chika came back to class. "I caught her. We need to cancel practice today..." Chika said, "That bad?" You said, "Yes, she was in love with Mari-San....." Chika said, "Definitely need to go check on her." You said.

Kanan was at home in tears crying out Mari's name hugging herself. "I'm sorry, Mari, I couldn't protect you. It's my fault your gone." Kanan sobbed as she got a phone call from Dia. "Kanan, we're coming over right now. Don't ignore us..." Dia said, "It's my fault she's gone because of me...." Kanan cried, "Don't say that it's not your fault...." Dia said, "When it happened, I felt broken. I felt like a part of me was missing. I'll never hear her voice again, Dia. I'll never hug her again. I'll never see her. All I feel is my emptiness....." Kanan said as she broke down in tears, "I can't come back to school. Coming back was a mistake, and I'm not coming ever again...." Kanan cried, "But we're graduating. Please try...." Dia said, "I'm not graduating if she can't. It's my fault. I can't if she doesn't, Dia...." Kanan sobbed, "Then I'll make sure she graduates. I can't do this without you, Kanan, please." Dia said, "I'll try...." Kanan said as her voice cracked. Her bedroom door opened, and Dia hugged Kanan as Kanan cried harder, hugging Dia "Ahhh! I have an idea!" Chika exclaimed "But it will only work if you come back to school Kanan but it'll be worth it I promise!" Chika said, "I'll listen to the idea...." Kanan said as her voice cracked, "What if Aqours was a tribute group to Mari-San. We write songs for nine members, and when it gets to Mari-San's part, we have photos of her." Chika said as Kanan did a weak smile and got up and hugged Chika. "You made me smile for the first time in two years." Kanan said as she looked at Dia, "What do you think?" Kanan asked, "Let's do it." Dia said, "I have to go see Mari." Kanan said as she left.

Kanan arrived at the cemetery but saw a girl about her age doing something to Mari's grave and was going to stop it. "Stop! You have no right to do this!!!" Kanan said, stopping the girl. "Wanna know something? I killed her, put a bomb in the helicopter, then blew it up," The girl said as Kanan's grip got tighter. "You killed her!!!! You need to be in jail!!!!!" Kanan yelled, "There's no way to prove I did it. I'm going to walk free." The girl said, "You're not going to walk away free. I'll find you. Every waking moment I have will be spent getting you to put in jail for killing the love of my life!!!!" Kanan yelled as Chika, and You came, "We followed you. She'll be put in jail. Let her go." You said as Kanan let the girl go. She ran. They went to the police station, and Chika had a recording of the conversation, and that was a full confession.
