(Hello guys! Another upload! Sorry this was a day late. I forgot to upload yesterday. I hope you'll enjoy this though)!
Hugo and I spoke a lot and got to know each other. We talked about how we killed. Our ways of killing were very similar. Difference is, he got caught. I didn't.
"So you killing the Gestapo officers, was that the reason why you joined the German Army? To make it easier?" I asked. "Precisely. Enlisting in the German Army made it easier to kill those officers." Hugo responded. "Smart. For me, I learned German so I can overhear their conversations. Just in case they said any information about some more Gestapo officers." I explained. Hugo smirked a tiny bit. "Really smart." He said. I smirked too. I gained his approval.
I had gotten up to grab my axe to sharpen the blade when Donny pulled me aside. He made sure we were out of ear shot from the rest, including Hugo. "Paris, do you think that Stiglitz guy is trustworthy?" He whispered. For some reason, Donny, Omar, Utivich, and Hirschberg called me "Paris" since we're in France and my name means "from France." "Yeah totally! He wouldn't just kill 13 Gestapo officers for no reason." I said. Donny shrugged. "True. But still. What if that's just an act? What if he's an undercover Nazi and is trying to get us captured?" Donny asked.
The look on my face said it all. I looked at him with a face that said "are you stupid." "Did you say the same thing about me to Aldo or Omar or Hirschberg or any of the other Basterds?" I asked. Donny shook his head. "And why is that?" I questioned. "I knew you were telling the truth after seeing the bodies of those Nazis and the pictures you took." Donny answered. "If Hugo was an undercover Nazi, they wouldn't have his face on the newspaper and they wouldn't have captured him and try to send him to Berlin. It just doesn't work like that. The look of disgust on his face every time I mention a Nazi says it all." I defended.
Donny seemed to finally get it through his dumbass head that Hugo wasn't an undercover Nazi. "Alright, I'm just tryna protect you. Ok? I don't want you or the others getting captured." Donny voiced. "I know you are. But besides, even if he was an undercover Nazi, I would've known automatically and I would send you to bash his brains in." I joked, chuckling a little. The tension in the air dissipated with our laughter. We walked out of our hiding spot. I walked over to Aldo once he spotted me. "Donny's being a scaredy cat." I whispered to him, jokingly. Aldo chuckled and shook his head, knowing what I was talking about.
"Donny's just trying to keep you safe, kid. That's why he acts all tough when it comes to killing Nazis but doesn't when it comes to Stiglitz." Aldo said, chuckling. I shook my head and giggled too. I loved these moments where all we could do is joke around. It made everything a lot more better. It helped me feel good when there wasn't tension in the air.
(This was kinda short so my apologies guys! I hope you guys enjoyed it though! See you soon)!
