Couldn't bring myself to update yall earlier. Since whatever has been happening between Ukraine and Russia has me on edge since the rest of my family lives in the danger zone. Still decided to give yall a chapter and take my mind off this crappy situation </3

Kai's pov.

"Let's head back." I heard Warren say and right as I was about to go back with her I noticed something. It was a pretty small electric car. I suppose it was an old golf cart.

"Hold on I found something." I told Warren and pointed it out to her. As we tried turning it on it still worked. I was surprised that the battery hasn't died yet. Just to be sure we packed some extra batteries with us.

Once we got back to the gate of the reactor I had managed to call Doc. I asked how's the mission going and he explained everything. I was pretty worried knowing that only 2 of them can keep going but the rest will have to get out. From what I heard that 10k will keep Homer safe.

"Can I talk to 10k Doc?" I asked him and I was left with a moment of silence.

"I'm listening Kai." I heard his voice come trough and I released my breath that I was holding in.

"Listen, I want you to be safe and I want to hear everything okay? Also if anything happens I'm going after you." I told him with a little shaky voice.

"Got it. I promise you I will get out safely." He replied with a promise. I felt relieved somehow.

"I love you. Kick Murphy's ass for me." I heard him say. I giggled and stopped speaking so I could hear everything that was going on inside the reactor.

It's funny how all I could do is listen trough a radio phone and still feel safe.

*time skip*

I was listening for a while. They had gotten to the core and 2 safety rods didn't go in the pool. Homer wanted to do a suicide move but 10k kept telling him that he will get him out safely.

After both safety rods had been inserted all I hears was a loud splash and 10k's sobs. I felt my heart sink. Knowing that the last person who knew this town quite well is now only me.

All that was left of the noise coming trough the phone was shooting sounds. I hung up the phone knowing that 10k will make it out safely.

After I hung up I gave the phone back to Warren and held my head in my hands. I was devastated but I couldn't cry. Not at least until I know that 10k gets back safely.

After like 5 minutes I heard foot shuffling. I looked up hoping it was 10k.

It was him but he walked angrily. He kicked the gate open but walked right past me. That kind of hurt me.

I jumped up to my feet and ran towards him. I grabbed his wrist and he just yanked it out of my grasp. I felt numb but still it hurt inside knowing that he is pushing me away.

I just turned him around and pulled him into a hug. I could hear his muffled sobs but he pushed me away with a power so strong that I almost fell.

"Do not touch me." He told me with gritted teeth.

I nodded and just kept quiet. I walked back to the golf cart and slumped down on the ground besides the cart. I wanted to cry but I couldn't. I just sat there zoning off.

Great now Murphy is somewhere in air and 10k doesn't let me even hug him.

What else will be my fault?

3rd person.

After the team saw how 10k had pushed Kai away they tried comforting him with words but unsuccessfully. Kai was sitting on the ground alone and 10k was just pacing around.

[Murphy] "Great news! The vodka made perfect fuel for ten minutes."

Everyone except Kai looked towards him. Warren asked what had happened and Murphy explained that the plane had crashed and he survived somehow. So he had to walk around ten miles.

He noticed that Kai hasn't told anything sarcastic towards him nor even told a dumb joke.

[Murphy] "What happened to the crazy kid?"

The question was directed towards the team but he kept his eyes on her. No one wanted to explain so he took his eyes off the  girl and now he looked at Warren. She nodded towards 10k and then towards the golf cart.

Before she walked to the golf cart she ordered everyone to gather their stuff and that they will get back to the city to find a car.

Once she was by the golf cart she explained everything to Murphy.

[Warren] "The kid was there to see Homer die. Once he came back out he was crying. Kai tried comforting him by giving him a hug but he just pushed her away and told her to not touch her."

[Murphy] "Young love eh?"

Warren slapped his chest with the back of her palm and gave him one of 'really?' looks. Murphy just shrugged her shoulders and sat in the cart.

Once everyone had packed their stuff into the cart they tried sitting all into it but there was simply not enough seats.

Kai told Warren that instead she will just walk behind it since the cart isn't that fast anyway. Warren was against it but she didn't want to argue with her so she let her walk behind them.

Kai just grabbed their stuff and took her sniper off her shoulder to keep it ready just in case. before she left she gave the reactor one last look and once she heard the gravel under the golf cart's wheels shuffle she started walking.
