You felt pain. You were in a car going down the road. The road was very wet. You heard two voices talking, one over the phone. Suddenly the car crashed. It went over the side of the road. Glass was all around. The whole car was ruined and partly in the water.

You woke up gasping for air seeing yourself in a familiar room that was not yours. Stephen, you thought. I must have been touching him. You looked around the now well-lit room, filled with bookcases and relics. Next to you was the sorcerer himself, he seemed to still be trapped in his nightmare. It would have been nice to see him peacefully asleep but sweat covered his handsome face with his twisted features from the dream. Handsome? You thought. Impossible, you didn't have feelings for him. You decided to wake him, not wanting him to relive his old trauma.

"Stephen." You gently shook him not wanting to startle him. He wasn't waking up. Curse these damn powers you thought. You had no clue what to do, you weren't very experienced in dealing with anyone's nightmares besides your own. You decided to shake him again, but harder. Thankfully that action seemed to do the trick and the sorcerer began to wake up from the dream.

"Y/N?" He asked sleepily. God his voice did things to your stomach, it made you feel all nervous inside.

"Stephen. Are you alright? You were having a nightmare," you asked concerned.

"I'm fine. Used to them by now," he muttered. The sleepy man then did something completely unexpected. He pulled you close to him and hugged you.

"Stephen," you nervously chuckled, "why are you hugging me? You just had a nightmare."

"Exactly. I know that you saw it. I'm used to it, you're not. Plus this helps," he said as he cuddled his face into your neck.

This feels nice you thought. It feels so right, it feels perfect. I could live every morning like this and be the happiest person on this earth.

"Oh and Y/N."

"Yes?"

"Happy birthday."

You didn't know if he could see the happiness on your face but you didn't care. You were beaming on the inside and outside too. You were sure that besides the happiness plastered there that blush covered your face as well. You couldn't believe that he remembered. To anyone, it would seem like a small thing to be happy about but to you who had not celebrated a birthday in decades, it meant everything.

"You remembered."

"Of course. I would be a terrible friend if I didn't."

That word hurt more than you thought. But why? It shouldn't.

"Thank you," you managed to get out, hugging him tighter than the grip he already had on you.

"I want to give you your gift before everyone else if that's okay."

"Of course," you didn't expect a gift, you had figured you were too old or something else for it. To your disappointment, the sorcerer let go of you and left your touch to get out of bed to retrieve what you assumed was your gift.

After a few moments of digging in his drawer to finally get the gift, he returned to the bed, which you had sat up in by now.

The gift was wrapped in f/c paper and wasn't the best wrapping job ever but it was obvious how hard Stephen had tried. You weren't sure what it was, it was small but you that still had a wide array of options it could be.

You glanced up to see Stephen staring at you with a look of pride and admiration on his face and couldn't help but smile even more at it. He blushed once he noticed what had caused you to beam even brighter than before.

Finally getting the wrapping off the present you saw a card laid on top of the dark blue box that undoubtedly contained your gift. You picked up the card to read it.

To my favorite enchantress,

Thank you for making these past few months some of the greatest of my life. Our time together has been amazing and you've touched more people than I think you care to see. I cannot wait for you to join the team so I can be with you even more. It is an honor to call you one of my closest friends.

, Your friend and companion Stephen V. Strange

"Oh, Stephen. Thank you," you said more touched than anything at the simple note. To anyone else it may have seemed short or not enough but to you, it was perfect. You knew it was hard for him to write and that he already wasn't the most emotional type.

"You haven't even opened the actual gift yet," Stephen said laughing.

God, I love his laugh you thought as you looked at the box in your hands. You opened the top to see the necklace you had seen yesterday. It was beautiful a (gold/silver/rose gold) chain with a teardrop amethyst pendant that perfectly matched the color of your magic. There was also a glowing amethyst ring that perfectly match it.

"Look on the inside," Stephen said.

You looked curiously to see an engraving that said. Friends?

"It's perfect," you whispered, shocked that he would spend that much on a gift or even care that much. Stephen seemed to let out a sigh of relief of your approval of the gift. You jumped from your spot on the bed to tackle him in a warm hug. "Well, Mr. Strange would you like the honors of putting this necklace on?"

"It would be a true honor Ms. Y/L/N." He gently attempted to put the necklace on with his hands.

"Stephen look at me. I know that it's hard but you can do it," you said supportively as he attempted once more before succeeding. Little did you know that his hands weren't shaking because of his condition but mostly because of his nervousness at how close you were.

"Don't forget that you owe me that explanation of what you were talking about at the store yesterday," he said while smiling goofily.

"Oh shut up!" you giggled as you shoved him away.
