Stephen was tired and angry, all he wanted to do was portal over to in front of the base to get to Y/N, yet he couldn't. Stark and Rogers were adamant that a plan was to be decided on first before going in blindly, since the team had already managed to be in trouble and they could be as well.

Stephen stood in the back of the mission room, listening to the two argue, deciding to just portal over since it seemed to never end, and just leave the portal open for them to eventually come through.

Luckily neither leader noticed, since they were

"How have they not given up yet?" Peter muttered as you watched the two mission veterans.

You shrugged, deciding to keep yourself and Peter a little more occupied, focusing on growing flowers from your hand, and changing their colors and petal shapes. Thankfully your powers with the elements weren't magic nor stemmed from an infinity stone, and came naturally.

"Can you make a Spider-Man one?" Peter asked shyly.

You grinned, forming a small red flower, floating it between your hands, making blue appear on the edges of each petal and Peter's eyes lit up in surprise.

"Why aren't you glowing like when we first met you?" Peter asked as you worked on the finishing touches of the flower.

"Dunno, I think it's something with how much power I'm exerting."

Putting some finishing details on the flower you were satisfied, knowing it wouldn't wilt because of it, handing it over to Peter who excitedly looked over it.

Suddenly the lights cut out, Peter letting out a tiny yelp as you sat their shocked.

"Bucky, Wanda?" You yelled, "Are you guys okay?"

"Yeah," Bucky responded.

Holding out your hand you lit a tiny flame, lighting another in your hand and sending it out towards their direction, making it stop and hover in place, in the shape of a ball, before it could hit them.

"Hang on guys," you told them, helping Peter up with your free hand and walking over to them.

"Time to get some practice in," you told yourself, holding out your hands and letting flames disperse all over the room, an orange glow taking over as it was restored almost fully to how it was illuminated before.

Everyone let out a thankful sigh seeing that the room was the same, fully expecting the worse.

Bucky tried to reason out an explanation, "Must've been a power surge."

However almost as if he jinxed it a loud crash rang out from the other side of the door. "That doesn't sound like a power surge," Peter joked.

"That doesn't sound like anything I know either," you said aloud, the rest of the team realizing that it wasn't Tony or anyone else they were familiar with.

"Well, shit," Peter gulped, all of your hearts mildly racing about what the noise could be.

The door started to shake, slowly caving in as it sounded like something was punching it, trying to get in. Gathering flames in your hand you made sure they were as hot as could be, blue almost fully encasing them, getting in front of the others, ready to protect them with your stronger powers.

The door was almost at its end, the metal almost as thin as a sheet. Everyone stepped back from it as you silently prayed you could take whatever laid at the other end.

A loud bang filled the room as the door broke, metal flying everywhere. You shot a large flame at the entrance, not being able to see because of the darkness that covered it.

"Yikes," Stephen winced, narrowly dodging it.

Peter let out a sigh of relief as the rest of you stood still, shocked yet glad it wasn't anything dangerous, "Oh thank god Mr. Doctor, we thought we were gonna get murdered by an alien that would lay eggs in our chests."

"Pretty sure that was just you, kid," Bucky told him, sending a nod of thanks to Stephen.

You dispersed your flames, no longer needed since the danger didn't exist, "The team saw our trackers?"

Stephen nodded, walking over to you, pulling you into an arm hug, whispering in your ear, "I was worried, I thought you were in danger."

You chuckled, "It was just dark, and magic inhibiting."

"Are you the only one here?" Wanda asked, peering out past the door.

Stephen shook his head, "Stark and Rogers are here but I went ahead, I tried reaching out to both you and Y/N but couldn't, so I figured it was somehow obstructing your abilities with the radio signals."

He turned around, but not before grabbing your hand, so you could walk by his side, as the rest of the team followed behind.

"So much for an easy first mission," you told Stephen, watching Peter run ahead to find Tony and fill him in on everything that happened.

Stephen laughed as you both walked out the base, meeting Tony and Steve arguing about whose fault it was in front of the portal back to the tower.

"They're in love," Peter sighed in front of you, taking a picture with his phone and sending it to Ned.

Snickering at the teenager, you walked through the portal, met with Clint and a few of the others with takeout containers waiting in the kitchen. Clint passed by, his plate loaded with food, "We got food as a congrats so feel free to help yourself."

"Wanna stay for dinner?" You asked Stephen who nodded, a quick beam of orange light overtaking his body and changing him into a more casual pair of pants and one of  his Columbia sweatshirt.

Loading your plate up with all sorts of food, you sat down next to him on one of the couches in the living room, watching a movie with a few of the others as you leaned onto him as Stephen looked at you, you unaware, and smiled finally feeling like he found a larger family.
