Weeks went by, KJ and Jake didnt speak. The only words exchanged were in class, when they were teaching. Both stealing glimpses of the other, and searching for the words to unwind the fear that entangled their love. It was a Friday, and classes were letting out early for the long holiday weekend.

Jake approached KJ, his eyes gazing at the floor.

"So, uh, were having a small show for the locals tonight. Yknow, kind of as a thank you for getting us to where we are. Uh, it would mean a lot if you came. I know youre probably still angry, but, you were a big part of me... I mean, us. So, come on down if you want to."

"Josh told me... Ill try my best Jakey." KJ forced a smile.

"Right... yeah, of course. Ill see you around"

The door closed behind Jake, and KJ reached in her pocket and pulled out her phone. She scrolled through her phone, sifting through all the pictures and articles she had been sent since the band had taken off a few years ago. She smiled, her heart welling up once more.

She knew what she wanted, but she feared it was too late to really get it. There was only one other person that knew her as well as Jake. And that was Josh, his twin brother, and her second best friend. If anyone could tell her how this might end, it was him. She closed her album of band memories and opened her contacts, calling Josh. As the phone rang, butterflies swirled in her stomach. Half of her wished he wouldnt answer, she didnt know if she was ready for the answer that may await her.

"Hey mama" Joshs voice cooed.

"Ew Josh, why?" KJ whined. She could hear him cracking up on the other end of the line.

"'Cause I know it gives you that.. what do the kids call it... the ick"

"Ok grandpa Josh... listen as fun as this comedy show is... I was calling to see if you had time to talk? I know you guys are doing the hometown show tonight but this is important"

"Weve always got time for you Kyrie. We can break in about 15, why dont you come down and well grab a drink, ok?"

"Yeah, sounds good. Thanks Joshy.. and if you dont mind. Can it just be you and me? Please?"

"Oh, its serious, serious huh?"

"Yeah..."

"Ok, meet me at The Violet"

"See you there."
