keeping busy

"I'm fucking telling you, in some alternate universe I am a Kpop idol," Chenle declared boldly, Jisung rolling his eyes in response.
Renjun shook his head, resting his weight onto Jisung, "with your verbal filtration, absolutely not."
"I have the voice of a god, bitchboy," Chenle snapped his fingers at the two on the couch, "I fucking could."
"Write a coherent song and we'll think about it," Jisung snorted, Renjun giggling along with him.

Jisung and Chenle had been rambling on about random stuff, bouncing around to different topics keeping Renjun very occupied. He was grateful for it, he barely had to pay attention to broken heart, instead keeping his singular braincell busy. Jisung had been unusually clingy toward him which he was quite happy about. They wanted to make him feel better, and Renjun couldn't be more grateful for their existence. But now Chenle was going too far. As if this asshole could really do anything.

"There are people in a different universe screaming my name, wishing they could be mine," he added, jumping and skipping around the room.
"Yeah, the only people screaming your name is my mother telling you to shut up," Renjun added snarkily, rolling his eyes.
Chenle stopped for a moment, giving a death glare at his cousin. "Rat." He cleared his throat, starting to randomly adlib, doing stupid runs with his subpar voice.
Jisung rolled his eyes once again, resting his head on Renjun's, "Oh here we go. Get ready for some shit." Renjun scoffed, agreeing with him. He raised his brows for a short moment as Chenle came up with some short tune and rolled with him.

He belted out a short line, sounding slightly like he was straining on the toilet, practically screaming. His voice also cracked slightly at the end causing him to squeak, causing all three of the boys to burst into laughter. Jisung almost fell off the couch, clapping his hands as he practically died while Renjun tried keeping his hand over his mouth, holding his stomach as he doubled over. Chenle could only laugh in despair, falling on the floor with tears in his eyes from wheezing so hard. He coughed a little from both his failed vocalising and from laughing so much which only made Renjun laugh even harder.
"What the fuck was that?" Jisung gasped, burying himself into Renjun's side.
Chenle shook his head, still choking on his laughter, "I don't fucking know." He slowly got up, still giggling uncontrollably. "Wait wait lemme try again."
"It's gonna be worse, why?" Renjun responded, still grinning and giggling.
Chenle tried once again. And again. And again. Yet he couldn't even get past the first part as he would keep breaking into laughter, stopping himself from proceeding. He couldn't help it, and it definitely didn't help that Renjun and Jisung would keep laughing themselves every time he tried.

"Fucking- I give up," Chenle huffed, placing his hands on his hips in defeat. Jisung stuck his tongue out at him, laughing a little. Chenle looked back at him, breaking into a smile after gazing at him for a little while. Jisung smiled back at him, Renjun seeing his face going a little pink. He glanced down, not wanting to really witness their small love blooming. Not just yet. He didn't want to watch something that reminded him of them.

He had avoided Jeno and Jaemin for the past three weeks, the two as sickeningly sweet as they used to be. He walked around alone for the most part, now residing in the library with headphones and a book. In those three weeks he had finished the assignments, read through the first Percy Jackson series and watched Hamilton about four times. He was happy with his productivity even though he'd rather just melt into the floor. He occupied himself to stop himself from breaking down or getting upset. That was the sole reason. To procrastinate feeling anything.

Every now and then he'd get a glimpse of them though. Jeno. Jaemin. Donghyuck. He'd promptly turn away, not wanting to interrupt them or make them feel upset but it would send a pang through his chest. These people that he loved didn't want him anymore. It was his fault, obviously, but whenever he saw Jaemin and Jeno chatting enthusiastically about something or Mark and Donghyuck laughing about something it just reminded him of his loneliness.

"Hyung!" Jisung snapped Renjun out of his daze, grasping his shoulders eagerly, "did you hear about Tomorrow X Together?"
Renjun nodded, zoning back in as Jisung started to rant about them, a smile slowly etching itself onto his face once again.
"Hyung, they're taller than me!" Jisung said with wide eyes, "Soobin could literally crush me."
Renjun chuckled, "you don't know, you still could grow."
"Don't give him ideas," Chenle spoke abruptly, his eyes growing in fear. He leaned back against the wall, snapping his fingers at him, silently telling him to stay put as if he had a choice.
Jisung chuckled, rolling his eyes. He laid back on Renjun, taking his hands and wrapping them around him to be cradled. Renjun burst into laughter, hugging and swaying him a little before settling back down.

"They are good vocalists," Jisung raised his brows, silently turning to Chenle and giving him a teasing grin. Chenle narrowed his eyes before rolling them, scoffing to himself. Jisung turned back to the ceiling as he nodded. "Yeah, Taehyun's vocals are so beautiful."
"I COULD SING LIKE HIM!" Chenle snapped, pointing at himself. Jisung started to giggle, settling down and wriggling in Renjun's lap to express his comfort. He wasn't exactly planning to get up, just taunting Chenle seemed fine.
Renjun could see a slight fire of possibly jealousy in Chenle's eyes, causing him to giggle to himself. The boy was seriously getting fired up about a Kpop idol being like by Jisung more than him.
"I'm just saying," Jisung shrugged, not caring about what Chenle had yelled out, "he had a powerful voice, I love it. He's also hella gorgeous, like holy shit dude." He turned his head toward him, "like seriously, this boy is amazing."

Chenle scoffed, pushing himself off the wall, rolling his eyes yet tapping his foot impatiently. Jisung almost broke into laughter but continued rambling about how amazing this idol was. He glanced at Chenle, smirking slightly as he picked himself up, walking toward him as he taunted, now wanting purely to piss him off. Renjun chuckled slightly, earning him a death glare from Chenle.
Jisung laughed, jumping around a little as he approached the older boy.

"Taehyun is just pretty and tiny and talented, like holy crAP!" Before Jisung could taunt him to his face, he managed to trip over his feet, completely throwing everyone off. He really was just a tall clumsy child at the end of the day.
He would've been saved by Chenle if the impact didn't send him down too, both of them toppling onto the floor. Jisung had acted quickly though, quickly wrapping his arms around him just before they hit the floor, cradling Chenle's head and back as they hit the floor, just missing the heating system. Renjun simply watched in silence as Jisung quickly pulled away a little, checking if Chenle was okay.

Jisung panickedly looked around, his hand trailing down and cupping Chenle's face as he moved his other arm to just place on his waist. "Are you okay?! I'm so sorry!"
Chenle, on the other hand, couldn't comprehend anything. He seemed calm for a person who was being straddled by their crush, being treated gently as if he were special. Though it was probably cause  his brain had just stopped functioning. Renjun blinked, stifling laughter at his cousin's dazed look, biting down on his knuckles.
"Chenle?" Jisung shook the boy's waist a little, Chenle letting out a little squeak. The older boy gave him a sharp nod. Jisung sighed, relaxing a little and sitting up, still sitting on the boy's hips.

Chenle's eyes darted toward Renjun in panic, Renjun letting out a small snort. He quickly slapped his hand over his mouth. Jisung darted his head up at Renjun for a moment, a flash of confusion passing his face before he looked back down. Realising the position he was in he immediately threw himself off of his friend, turning a deep shade of red.
Renjun nodded slowly as Chenle used his shirt to cover his crotch, just in case. "You know what, you're right. That did make me feel better."
Both boys' faces fell, both quickly muttering "fuck you" simultaneously.

They all sat in silence for a moment, everyone trying to calm themselves. Chenle blinked for a moment, looking up. "For me, you don't always have to be perfect. It's alright" he sang, catching  both Renjun's and Jisung's attention as he sang sweetly, belting out the last line, finally calm enough to do so.
Jisung broke into a soft smile, gazing at the older boy as he curled into himself a little.

Chenle looked at Renjun with a smile, "I told you I could do it."
Renjun nodded, "That was good. I'm proud of you."
Chenle turned to Jisung, catching the boy staring at him. He smiled back at him, his cheeks dusting pink. "I'll take you liked it?"
Jisung nodded in response, smiling back at him, neither of them breaking their eye contact no matter how flustered they looked.

Renjun simply looked down, sighing to himself. So much for occupying himself.
