"Hope!" shouted a voice. Hope felt her eyes opened without her wanting to. Her body moved on its own. That was when she remembered what the lady said. She could see what was going on but couldn't change the situation.
She was only watching. "Yea?" she said. Her head looking at her friends. Her friends who were deceased in the future.
"Were you listening to any word I say?" asked the voice. It was one of her friend. She had brown long hair and dark brown eyes. Her glasses were pushed up on her nose. She had a white shirt on with a school badge.
"Yea yea Ember," said Hope.
"Oh really," said Ember. "Then where did I stop?"
"Your dog is stuck in a book?"
"So you heard none of it." Hope only gave small giggle. The others also were giggling. "Hope!"
"Okay! Okay! I wasn't listening," said Hope. "Why are attacking me only? What about Maya?" Hope's hand pointed a finger towards Maya. She had black long hair and blue eyes. She was also wearing the same shirt as Ember. In fact all five of them were wearing the same outfit. After all they did just graduated from the same high school.
"Maya," said Ember. "You were listening right?"
"Oh of course," said Maya. "I love hearing your not boring stories."
"Okay then, where did I stop?"
"Er ... you were on your way to your grandparents' house?"
"No! That was two stories earlier," said Ember as she crossed her arms. "You weren't listening too. Mallory?" Ember looked at another person, Mallory.
She had blonde hair and blue eyes. "You stopped at elevator in Switzerland ... I think."
"Were you only thinking about Iron Man movies?" asked Ember.
"Ma-maybe ...," said Mallory.
"Ena you heard me right?" asked Ember as she looked at Ena. She had black hair and black eyes.
"I won't try to lie. I actually didn't listen at all," she said. Ember raised her hand and hit Ena.
"All of you are so mean," said Ember. "None of you listened."
"Sorry but your story is too boring," said Hope. Hope felt like slapping herself. 'I shouldn't have said that last time.' Of course, she couldn't do anything about it. She could only watch from her point of view in her younger self.
"You're the meanest," said Ember as she pouted.
"Ember don't act like a baby," said Maya. "You already graduated high school!"
"Yea. We finally graduated! Isn't that why we are here? To celebrate!" said Ena.
"Yea ... graduated ... I'm going to miss school a bit," said Mallory.
"Are you serious?" asked Ember.
"Yea ... don't tell me you don't have any good memories at school," said Mallory. Ember fell silent.
"Forget about that," said Hope. "Let's take a photo!" Her hands reached for a camera. The five of them went closer to each other to get into the frame.
Hope felt happy. She was able to see her friends again but then she suddenly felt weird again. It was the same feeling as when she was travelling back in time. 'No ... not now,' she thought to herself. 'No ... two more minutes ple-'
Hope felt her body being thrown forward. She felt light headed again and the feeling of falling. Instead of falling backwards she felt as though she was falling forward. It was a torture.
After a moment, the feeling reduced and Hope knew what that meant. She braced herself for the last crash. Not long after she felt as though her body crashed through glass. Her eyes were shut the entire time.
It was quiet. All that could be heard were rain drops. Hearing the rain drops and the quietness, Hope didn't want to think about the event she just crashed into. Her eyes were open but the vision was a little blurry.
It took a few seconds before it was completely fine. Her younger self's head was hung low. All that Hope could see was grass. Wet grass from the rain. She was holding an umbrella in her hand. "I'm sorry. I wish you would have waited a little while longer."
Hearing her own words, Hope felt her heart broke. She knew immediately what was the event. A funeral. Maya's funeral. She lifted her head up and Hope saw where she was standing. She was standing next to the coffin.
Ena, Mallory and Ember were standing by her side. Maya's parents were also there. They were a crying mess. Hope couldn't bare looking at the lifeless body of her friend. She just saw her happy and live like a few seconds ago.
"She was our best friend," said Mallory. "Why did you have to go?"
"There's nothing we can do now," said Ena. "She's gone." The atmosphere was silent. The rain was getting heavier. Each of them were holding a black umbrella.
"So ... anyone wants to go have lunch?" asked Ena.
"Ena!" yelled Ember. "How can you asked about food at a time like this?"
"Ember don't shout," said Mallory. They were looking at the coffin.
"Oh come on. Am I the only one hungry? Let's bury the coffin and go have food," said Ena rolling her eyes.
"If you are so hungry why don't you go and eat without us," said Ember. "We'll stay and bury her."
"Fine," said Ena as she turned on her heels and walked away. Hope looked around at her remaining friends and Maya's parents.
"Come on, let's bury her," said Hope. She looked and saw as each of them nodded. Slowly and carefully they lowered the coffin into the dug up hole. It was still raining but they were too sad to care about getting wet.
They close the hole with earth. The gravestone stood at where the body was buried. 'Here lies Maya, A victim of the ferry accident.'
Hope, her friends and Maya's parents stood in front of the grave. Tears were rolling down their cheeks. It was a pain to Hope to see her best friend dead. She could only imagine what it must have felt like to Maya's parents.
"She was our sweet angle," said her mother. She was crying a lot. Her face was red and eyes were puffy.
"She would have been saved if she waited," said Mallory. "If she didn't give up a few more minutes, she would be with us."
"I miss you," said Hope. "We will miss you."
"You were our everything," said Ember.
Hope wondered why? Why was it taking so long for the time in this event to past? When she relived the good memories it felt as though it was over in a blink of an eye but now ... it felt like forever.
'I want to go back now. I can't stand living through this again.'
Hope felt her body moved. Her friends, Maya's parents and herself were leaving the graveyard. They were soon in front of the gates.
"Goodbye aunty, uncle," said her friends and herself. They went their separate ways. Ember and Mallory walked away from the gates forgetting that Hope was still standing at the gates. Hope was lost in her mind at that time. All there was was pain in her heart. Loosing her best friend hurt.
'I want to go back.' Soon Hope felt the feeling she wanted. Her body felt as though it was thrown forward again. After the heartache she went through seeing the funeral again, the feeling of travelling through time was nothing. The torture of seeing her dead friend again was worst.
Hope felt her body crashed through glass. She opened her eyes and could feel her body. She had control over her own body again. She looked around and found herself in her apartment again. The watch was in her hand and the date and time were reset to 0.
'I don't think I want to go though this again.'
