Hope found herself in the past again. This time the event took place after Ember's death. Her younger self was hanging out with Mallory and Ena at a park. They were having a little picnic.
"I wish Ember and Maya were here," said Mallory.
"Y-yea," said Hope. She bit on a sandwich.
"But they're not here," said Ena. "We can't do anything. They're gone."
They stayed quiet. Mallory bit down on her sandwich.
"Cheer up!" exclaimed Ena. "What happened in the past let it stay in the past. Let's just move on."
"Yea ... we will move on ... but slowly," said Hope.
"Yea ... Ember died not long ago. And not long before her death Maya left us. Imagine moving on but then witnessing another death," said Mallory. "We need time to heal. I don't know how you move on so easily."
"Just move on geez," said Ena.
"Are you just heartless?"
"So?"
"Okay enough both of you," said Hope. "There's no need to start a fight.
"Yea okay," said Ena as she rolled her eyes. Mallory nodded.
"Come on then," said Hope. "Let's take a photo!" She took out her camera. Hope was a little sad. This event was not really a happy one. Soon the moment she was waiting for arrived, her body felt as though it was thrown forward.
The moment of truth was a few moments away. Hope felt her body crashed through glass and soon enough her vision cleared up. The sound around the area were getting louder. It was hard at first to identify the event she was in.
It took a moment to realise the loud sounds she was hearing were from an ambulance and a few police cars. Hope stood at the pavement. People were crowding at one spot. The ambulance stopped as well as the police cars.
Hope walked closer to the crowd and took a look at the scene. Sure enough, as she was expecting, it was the scene of Mallory's death. Her body laid dead on the road. She was in her own pool of blood. People were blocking the way of the car who crashed into her.
The policemen were surrounding the car when the car suddenly backed away at rapid speed. People had no choice but to get out of the way. The car continued before turning to face the opposite direction. The policemen chased the car for a moment before the car suddenly sped off.
Some of the policemen in the police car immediately chased the car down. Hope watched as the ambulance drove away with Mallory's dead body in it. Tears were falling down her cheeks.
'No ...,' that was all she could think off. 'I can't do this again.' Hope watched as the police car came back.
"We couldn't catch him, sir," said one of the policeman who was coming out. "The car just vanished into thin air."
"Must be some cloaking technology," said another policeman.
Hope's head turned around to look as all the other people were leaving. Hope felt her body being thrown forward. She was going back to the present.
Hope was back in her apartment. She was facing her computer screen which had went to sleep. It was black and she could see her reflection. She didn't notice tears were rolling down her cheeks. Her nose was red.
"No ... no more," she said. She went through pain watching a funeral several times. She couldn't imagine watching her friends death instead. She didn't want to see her other friends dead body in their own blood or ash.
