"What do you mean they were meant to die?" asked Hope as she tried to grab the witch. The witch only avoided the motion.
"I think it is pretty clear. Their fates were sealed long time ago. They were meant to die," said the witch. Hope only stood there in disbelief.
"So ... all this time ... I worked so hard to save them is all for nothing?" she asked. Her eyes watering up.
"I guess you can put it like that," said the witch. Hope couldn't take it and started to cry. "No ... no ... no," she muttered to herself. "It can't all be for nothing."
"Well it's your problem," said the witch. Hope looked up and stared at the witch. "You."
The witch only looked at Hope through the mask. "I actually have no clue who you are!" exclaimed Hope. She got closer to the witch. "Now that I think of it ... you could be the reason they are dead!"
"I won't deny that part," said the witch. "What are you going to do about it?"
"One. Who are you actually?" asked Hope.
"Why should I tell you?" asked the witch.
"I need to know," said Hope getting angry.
"So you can what? Take revenge? Try and kill me?" the witch started laughing. Hope stood silent. She didn't know what she wanted to do. All she knew was she wanted to finally know who was underneath the mask.
Hope didn't know what got into her. Her body just lunged forward and tried to get hold of the witch. The witch only avoided the assault and moved smoothly to the side. Hope looked at the witch.
"I know you are smiling underneath the mask isn't it!" shouted Hope. The witch laughed.
"Do you have X-ray vision?" she mocked.
"Oh how much I wish I had them!" Hope continued to try and catch the witch. The witch only moved around avoiding each attack. Eventually Hope got tired. She bent down panting. Her eyes still fixed on the witch.
The witch laughed. "It's amusing watching you try and catch me. Now that you are done with your attack ... My Turn!" Hope wasn't aware on what happened. At one moment she was standing, the next thing she knew, she was thrown towards the wall. Pinned towards the wall by magic.
Hope struggled a bit but there was no use. "No use in struggling Hope," said the witch. "It's clear who has the upper hand."
Hope gave up. Her body was pinned towards the wall. The witch inched closer. Her mask still hiding her true identity. "Just tell me who you are," said Hope.
"What for?"
"I just need to know who you are," said Hope. "I'm tired of fighting."
"Aw ... you're tired?" asked the witch.
"I'm sick of this. If you don't want to reveal yourself its fine," said Hope. "I no longer care. Just let me go. My friends are dead again. They should get a funeral even it's only me alone."
"That so sweet," said the witch. She released the magical grip around Hope. Hope fell onto her knees. "What about your other friend?"
Hope looked at the witch puzzled.
"You don't know who I'm talking about? Let me rephrase that. What about your missing friend?" asked the witch.
"I know nothing about her accident," said Hope getting up. "And how do you know about my missing friend?"
"You talked a lot. Ena is the missing friend," said the witch.
"I never even mention about Ena. Not once! How could you possibly know her?" asked Hope with her eyes looking suspiciously at the witch.
"I'm pretty sure you mentioned it before," said the witch.
"I never."
"You did."
"Never. Who are you?"
"Huh ... since you are like this," said the witch. Her hands reached for the mask. "I might as well tell you."
Hope looked in horror. The face underneath the mask was a face she never expected. The witch slipped off the mask and gave a smirk face.
"No ... it can't be," said Hope. Her eyes were widen. "No ..."
"Yes ... Hope," said the witch walking closer. Her voice started to change a bit back to its original voice. "I am your dear friend, Ena."
Hope dropped to her knees. "You ... you're a witch. You're alive all this while," she said.
The witch, Ena laughed. "Of course I am. And where is my thank you for giving you the watch to save our other friends?"
"Thank you? Why should I thank you when you first gave me a watch that forces me to watch their deaths?"
"Really? That's how you thank me?" Ena walked closer. Hope only backed away. She kept her eyes on Ena.
"Tell me the truth. Why did you disappear?" asked Hope as she got up.
"For many reasons," said Ena.
"You disappeared. No call. No text. Nothing. And now... you suddenly showed up," said Hope. "Even after I save them."
"Yea ... I do that," said Ena. She only looked at Hope with a poker face.
"Our friends died again. How can you be so emotionless?" asked Hope seeing Ena's expression.
"Why would I feel something when I caused their deaths?"
Hope felt as though she wanted to pass out. "You ... you killed them all?"
"Correct," said Ena. She laughed darkly. "Who else do you think caused the fire? Who do you think caused Maya to get weighed down? Do you really think the car that hit Mallory was real?"
Hope was in disbelief. All she could think of was why? Tears rolled down uncontrollably. She broke down crying while Ena enjoyed the scene.
