Apocalypse - Part 1.

A dong sounds. My siblings and I walk down the stairs to the dining room. We stood behind our chairs and waited for our father. When he finally came we were allowed to sit down and start eating. The table was quiet and the only sound was the regular sound of cutlery. Suddenly Five slammed a knife into the table across from me.

"Number Five. What's that about?" Our father didn't even look up from his newspaper.

"I want time travel." said Five, and gave him a searching look.

"Out of the question. You're not ready for this yet." he said monotonously. Five laughed maliciously. I shook my head hastily, but he only looked me in the eye. Then he turned to our father again.

"And how I am ready. I've learned my space jumps, perfected them! Just like you said!" And with that, he teleported himself next to our father. He now looks up from his newspaper, but didn't look at him.

"No you are not." I held my breath. I didn't know what Five was up to, but I had a bad feeling. At his father's simple reply, he rolled his eyes, then stormed out of the room.

"Number Five! You're not excused!" he called after him, but he kept walking.

"Shit-" I got up from my chair so quickly it slammed backwards onto the floor.

"Number zero! Sit down!" I just ignored him and then ran after my brother. I heard the front door slam and then sprinted out into the street.

"Five!" I shouted when I recognized him a few meters away. I ran towards him, but I saw him clench his fists and blue lights appeared.

"Five, no!" I screamed when I got hold of him at the last moment. But suddenly a bright light shone around us.

"What the- Y/n!" He looked at me angrily.

"What the hell are you doing?" he yelled at me. Now I got angry too.

"You're asking me that? What the hell are you doing?!" I yelled back, pointing at our surroundings.

"Time travel." he just shrugged and then turned his back to me.

"I want to show the old man that I'm capable of more than just stupid little space jumps." he said coolly. Now I felt bad for yelling at him.

"You want to show him what you can do, I know. But not like this." I walked around him so I could look him in the eye again. His arms were crossed and his gaze stubbornly passed me. I noticed people looking at us.

"Take us away from here. People are already looking." I whispered and squinted to the left, where a woman eyed us slightly disgusted. Five then sighed and pulled me into an alley. He clenched his fists again and the blue light surrounded us again. A cold breeze blew around us. I looked around and realized that there was only snow everywhere. We're wrong again.

"Damn.." he murmured.

"What is?"

"It's harder than I thought.." he says and clenches his fists again. Once again the light surrounded us. Suddenly I had the acrid smell of smoke in my nostrils. I quickly ran out of the alley and froze. Five right behind me. Everything was destroyed. Debris from buildings lay everywhere. Also distributes charred corpses. I felt nauseous at the sight.

"Oh no..." I ignored him and ran down the street.

"VANYA!" I screamed when I got to our house. Also in ruins.

"MOM!" Tears welled up in my eyes.

"ANYONE!" Then I fell on my knees. The tears just ran down my cheeks. I also heard Five behind me breathing heavily. I scrambled back to my feet and turned to face him.

"Get us out of here! Please! Get us out of here!!" I drummed against his chest.

"Hey, hey! Y/n! Calm down." He held my wrists tight.

"Please just get us out of here." I dropped onto his chest, pressing my face into his uniform. I felt him ruffle my hair soothingly.

"I've already tried.. It doesn't work.." he said softly. I looked up at him tearfully.

"So we're stuck here?" my voice was shaking. He nodded hesitantly. My hands started shaking uncontrollably and I collapsed in Five's arms. He sat on the floor while I clung to him desperately. He kept whispering reassuring things to me like, "Everything will be fine." Or: "We can do it."

After a while I was able to calm down. He helped me back to my feet and held my hand.

"Come on. We have to find a place to stay." he said and wiped a strand of hair off my face. The spot where he touched me tingled slightly. I just nodded and followed him.
