(3rd person)

-1996 - 7 years old-

Laughing, Y/n runs through the hallways of the house. Just behind her Five, who called desperately for his sister.

"Wait for me Y/n!" But she didn't listen to him and ran even faster. Suddenly Five teleported in front of her and she ran into him. Together they fell forward and hit the ground.

"Ouch.." Face contorted in pain, Y/n sat me back up. Then the girl noticed a pulling pain on her knee. There were only small scratches to see, but the pain went up to the thigh. Tears formed in her (e/c) eyes and rolled down her cheeks. But her brother sat down next to her and put his arms around her while humming a tune. It was a tune that Y/n liked very much. It always calmed her down. She didn't know why, and neither did anyone else.

"Are you okay?" asked Five as he pulled away from her again. She nodded sniffling and smiled at him. Then tell him something.

"Wait here." he said and then ran away. Shortly afterwards he came back with a plaster. Y/n had to giggle as little dinosaurs adorned the pavement.

"Better?"

"Much better. Thanks bro, love you!" So she hugged him again.

-2002 - 13 years old-

"Has anyone seen my domino mask?!" She desperately searches in all sorts of drawers.

"You mean this one?" she heard someone behind her say. She turned to see Five standing in the doorway, her mask in hand. She walked towards him and wanted to take it, but Five held her up so that Y/n couldn't reach her. In that moment she cursed herself for being so small.

"Come on. We have to go now!" she begged him. But he just shook his head with a grin. Then she thought of something and started grinning herself. She then pulled her brother down to her by the collar and pressed her lips to his. Bewildered, he widened his eyes, but after a few seconds he gave in and let himself be pulled along. But he didn't notice how his hand dropped a bit, and Y/n simply snatched the mask out of his hand. She broke away from him, patted his cheek once, and walked past him.

"Thank you bro. Love ya'." she called back to him, but he just looked after her speechless. His cheeks were hot and his heart was racing.

-2006 - 17 years old-

It had been a bad day for Y/n. She found out her boyfriend cheated on her. And sadly with her best friend too. The two had been at odds for a long time, and he had even hit her. Now she's sitting in her room with tears in her eyes, trying to cover up the bruises she had to wear with some make-up. Suddenly there was a knock on her door and her posture tensed.

"Hey, Y/n. Did you know that Klaus waxed his ass with pudding earlier? Only he can be that stupid." laughed Five as he opened the door and stepped into her room.

"Yeah, ridiculous." She turned to him and faked a smile. But the smile left his face as soon as he saw hers. With quick steps he ran towards her and took her face in his palms.

"Are you alright princess? Who did this to you?" She tried to keep the smile up, but it collapsed on itself. Just like her.

"Y/n? What happened? Where did you get that from?" Her black eye looked worried. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she sobbed her face into his uniform and clawed at him.

"Shh... everything's going to be fine.. it's going to be okay.." he murmured. He then began to hum her tune. Y/n immediately relaxed a little. When he broke away from her again, he gently stroked her cheek.

"Who was that, Princess?"

"He..." He understood immediately.

"I'll finish that bastard!" he snorted and hastily turned to the door.

"Five no! That doesn't make any sense! Stop that please." Anxious, she grabbed his sleeve before he could leave.

"Y/n. He hurt you. This is definitely a reason to rip him to pieces." he said, brushing a strand of hair out of her face.

"Yes, I know. But please, don't do it. It doesn't change anything." she pleaded, getting on her knees, her fingers clutching his clothes. He slowly knelt down and looked into her eyes. She knew what he was expecting.

"I was on my way to see him and then there was this moaning and clapping as I walked into his apartment. He cheated on me with my best friend. He had absolutely no regrets. He yelled at me. Of course I got mad and I yelled back. But he didn't like that, and then he started hitting me." She looked down at the floor sadly. Just the memory of it made her shudder.

"I loved him..." Tears welled up in her eyes again.

"Hey.. listen to me. Be careful when you use the words 'I love you'." he said and took her face in both hands again.

"You'll jump start your heart and forget it." She looked up at him as he continued to speak.

"Do your best to try to move on.The regret you have, you can never shed it. You'll play pretend and say it's already gone." she swallowed. She had never really thought about it.

"Do you understand, Y/n?" He wiped the remaining tears from her cheeks. She nodded, and then smiled mildly at him.

"Thanks.. Five. Love you." Then she hugged him again. When she broke away from him again, she leaned in and kissed his cheek softly.

"Thank you for everything." He just smiled at her sadly, and then got up.

"I'm going to bed. And you should go to bed too."

"Good night, Five." she said, but stayed seated and watched him disappear from the room. But what she didn't see was him leaning against the wall in the hallway, holding his cheek, and whispering,

"I love you.."
