Many years, we roamed the cities. And many years, these feelings of guilt, fear, frustration, and loneliness plagued us. Many years we were on our own, and many years we struggled to survive in a world that seemed to have ended.

Five and I survived, but we both fell into deep depressions. The only reason we are still alive is ourselves. We don't want to leave the other alone in this cruel world.

Years passed. First 10, then 20. On to 30, and now even 45 years. 45 years, alone, in this empty world.

"Y/n! Come over please!" I heard five call out.

"Right away!" I put the bottle aside and stepped over some debris to get to the other side of the still standing wall. To be honest, the loneliness has been driving us both insane. And when you've been alone for 45 years with only the company of your adoptive brother, it's easy to fall in love. We've been together for over 30 years to be exact. A long time, wasn't it? Anyway. I climbed over to Five, who had his back to me.

"What is it?" I asked him. But he took a step to the side, giving me a clear view of a person a few meters in front of us. My protective instinct kicked in and I pulled the knife out of my pocket.

"Oh, don't be like that, Y/n." said the woman and smiled crookedly at me.

"Just call me 'The Handler'." she said, holding out her thin hand. I just spat in her direction, a few inches from her hand.

"What do you want?" now asked Five. His posture also seems tense, his gun aimed at her.

"I'm here to help."

"Yes? Then tell me why I shouldn't ram my knife into your pretty blond head right now!" I hissed at her.

"Because if you did that, you wouldn't hear my offer of what I'm about to do for you. Which would be very sad in your current situation." She took off her sunglasses and sat on one of the boulders.

"I work for an organization called the 'Commission'. We take care of maintaining the time continuum through manipulation and elimination." I looked at Five confused. He too shrugged. This woman must have noticed this because she immediately started talking again.

"Sometimes people do things that change the timeline. And when that happens, we send one of our agents to take out the threat." I drew my knife again and Five held his gun higher.

"Oh, no, no, no. You misunderstand me. I don't want to kill you." she giggled.

"I want to recruit you." we slowly lowered our weapons while she continued talking.

"I'm here to offer you a job, number five, and number zero. We've had our eye on you for quite a while now, and we think you both have great potential. Your survival skills have made you famous, around our headquarters . As is your ability to leap through time, and your incredible power to set anything in motion, even when it's nailed and bolted to the ground." As Five lowered his weapon almost completely, something flashed in her eyes.

"Does that mean we can finally leave here?" Five voice had hope. A feeling we lost a long time ago. She smiled.

"In exchange for five years of service to us. Fulfill your contract, you can retire. Whenever and wherever you want."

"If you control time, why are you letting all this happen here?" I blurted out. It has to make some sense.

"Oh, I guess that's impossible. You know, all this, it had to happen"
