Chapter Eleven - Out Of The Frying Pan

As the Hero Work Studies began, Wolverine wasted no time in putting X-23 through the wringer. Like last time, X-23 underwent rigorous training to better improve their overall skills. When she weren't training, X-23 went with her father on patrols across the city. Despite the retirement of All Might and the subsequent rise of Villains, all was quiet on the streets. One day as X-23 was sparring with her father, Wolverine gets a call on his phone from Aizawa.

Aizawa(Phone): Logan, are you there?

Wolverine: I am.

Aizawa(Phone): We're making a move on the Shie Hassaikai.

Wolverine: We're finally hitting those guys? This soon?

Aizawa(Phone): Yes. Sir Nighteye's investigation has turned up some....disturbing elements.

Wolverine: Say no more. I'm on my way.

As Wolverine hangs up the phone, he turns his attention to X-23 and promptly ends the sparring match.

Wolverine: Get your gear ready. Sir Nighteye's getting everyone together. We're heading out.

X-23: Who exactly are we dealing with, Dad?

Wolverine: The Shie Hassaikai: a splinter group of the Yakuza.

X-23: I thought the Yakuza lost most of it's power during the rise of Heroes.

Wolverine: They are, but it looks like the Shie Hassaikai is trying to stage a comeback for the Yakuza.

Soon enough, X-23 got her gear ready and met up with Sir Nighteye and a group of the Pro Heroes involved in the investigation. It included Aizawa, Fat Gum, Ryukyu and a few others. Also in attendance were some of their classmates and the Big Three. As Sir Nighteye entered the room, he briefed them on the situation. According to the results of the investigation, the Shie Hassaikai have been involved in several isolated attacks as well as a potential involvement with the League of Villains. As everyone was briefed on the situation, one of the Pros speak out.

Rock Lock: Does anybody want to tell me why a bunch of high school kids were invited to this conference? I don't care if they are from UA. If we have to stop and keep explaining this stuff to them, we'll never get to the game plan.

Wolverine Stove the attitude, Rock Lock. We all brought these students in because we trust them to get the job done. If you don't like it, there's the door.

Rock Lock scoffed as X-23 flips him off much to Wolverine's amusement. Sir Nighteye then continued his briefing.

Sir Nighteye: Hassaikai's movements are difficult to trace, but we suspect that one of the main source of income is through illegal drug sales. So I requested assistance from Heroes who have some expertise in that area.

Wolverine: Aizawa and I have been doing some digging on the Shie Hassaikai for some time.

As the briefing continues, Fat Gum informs the group that a sample of the drug used in a bullet that was able to cancel out someone's Quirk. He also informed everyone that a sample of the bullet contained blood and cell samples from a human. 

X-23: You mean....someone is using a person's blood to generate these abominations?! This....this is horrid!

Sir Nighteye: What's even more troubling is that there's a strong possibility that the Shie Hassaikai is also attempting to recreate the Weapon X program.

Upon hearing this, X-23 was in shock. Not only was Wolverine a product of the Weapon X program, but she herself was created from a top secret program that attempted to recreate the Weapon X program.

Ochaco: I don't mean to interrupt, but what's the Weapon X program?

Wolverine: A top secret government program that attempted to induce superpowers for military purposes. I was one of the poor bastards that survived. Made me into what I am today. 

At this point, Midoriya and Mirio reveal about their encounter with Overhaul and a little girl. At this point, X-23 began to imagine what kind of damage Shie Hassaikai could do if they managed to replicate the Weapon X program.

X-23: We have to stop them! We can't let the Shie Hassaikai recreate Weapon X!

As X-23 said that, the gravity of the situation became grave. In response to this, Sir Nighteye proposes a multi front raid on multiple Shie Hassaikai hideouts in order to locate the main compound so that they may rescue the little girl. As the raid was being planned, X-23 met with the other students.

Ochaco: I....I still can't believe someone would use a little girl like that....

Kirishima: It's....it's unacceptable! I'm with Midoriya and Mirio! We need to save her!

X-23: And we need to ensure that Weapon X is not replicated. We....we can't let that happen....

Soon enough, Wolverine entered the room.

X-23: What's our next move, Dad?

Wolverine: You and I will join the main attack force. We'll be scouting out the main compound while the other squads raid the other compounds. Once we get the signal, we'll move in and take those bastards down. 

X-23: What about that little girl?! Who knows what those bastards are doing to her!

Wolverine: And we will save her. But we need to play smart about this. As much as I would love to kick down the door and crack some skulls, but making too much noise might alert Overhaul. And if we lose Overhaul, all that time put into this investigation will be for nothing. But make no mistake, the Shie Hassaikai is going down. 

X-23 said nothing, indicating that she was in it for the long run. In that moment, Sir Nighteye set his plan in motion. Little did she know that an all out war with the Shie Hassaikai was about to break out.
